2003 Case IH DX 40???

Hello, Im looking at buying a tractor. I've found this 2003 Dx 40 with 400hrs on it and im thinking on giving the dealership a call on it.
Just wondering what kind of questions i should be asking, what i should be looking out for?
I have a 1949 international cub with a blade on the front right now, which i am still gonna keep and restore someday, but its time to move up and i want something 35-45 hp, 4x4, with a bucket and plans to put a blower on it too.

Anyhow was just wondering what this Case is like and what i should be looking out for, any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way the tractor looks like its in great shape, it has the LX 116 loader on it and there asking $21000 canadian, $17325 us.

Do a search for NH TC40. Same tractor and more people on TBN have NH. Some people have complained about lack of power to the wheels in mid range on the HST. These tractors have had little changes since their production. I had a Case IH DX 29. It did have little, frequent nagging issues compared to my prior Kubotas and JDs. Dash had condensation, rear taillights had condensation, blew HST hose by transmission cooler, glow plug relay had intermittant issue, many have complained about the tilt steering wheel not working and need to replace a $100 part (I didn't have that one), mine was cold blooded and would not start well without glow plugs except on warmest days, corrosion caused by battery leakage. Most of these problems have been corrected in later models but the tilt steering problem still remains. Some have had issues with the cracking of the transmission housing.

they're good tractors......

does it come with any "goodies;" loaded tires, r4's, bumper guard, work lights, toolboxes, rear remote hydraulic hook ups, etc.....all that stuff adds up quickly....

does it look clean and well kept?

there have been several on craigslist, lately, for just a hair less than that but those seem to be the exception to the rule.....i'd say 16-17 is about right....

According to what the dealer wants for a 2003 with 600 hours yours would be a steal. His tractor has a loader and ag tires he wants 21,600 this is in Wisconsin.

I bought a DX40 in 2005 and it now has over 600 hours. It has had no major mechanical problems. I have been pleased with it, surely you will be too, its a good machine.
