2004 2500HD gas reduced engine power?

A lot of "P" series codes will put you into the limp mode (reduced engine power), not always is it the throttle body, keep that in mind for the future. K&N's suck for engine with a MAF sensor, over oiling will coat the sensor and give false readings, and they are proven to not work any better than a standard pleated filter.

about three nights ago now I removed the throttle body and cleaned it out the best I could with throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush and it had a small amount of carbon built up on the inside of the butterfly valve along the wall of the throttle body and I was able to remove it and put it all back together and to my surprise it has run fine the last few days.

but it has been very cold but so far no more problems. still going with a stock intake system when I can locate one from a junk yard but hopefully that fixed my problem. so far so good but the first two days I was towing and it doesn't mess up when I tow.

today I drove about 100 miles almost around town and running errands and no reduced engine power! thanks for the tips guys I will keep everyone posted.

did you clear the ecm codes ? if not you should. if you did driving @ 100 miles will reset the monitors scan it again if the monitors are ready & no check engine or reduced power lights, you should be all set. good luck to you, I hope it works out.

I just recently about 5 months ago got in there and soldered the wires and added a new sensor to the throttle body
It has only gone into reduced engine power a handful of times on me in several months, but nothing like it was

Now my dogs chewed up my down stream o2 sensor right at the connector lol do i'm on to the next project. Thsnks everyone!
