I just took delivery on a bx1500 right before getting about a foot of snow 2 days ago. Thanks go to all the various message posters who helped me in this decision. It has the 54" deck, loader, Woods rbc 60 blade with a horse mat installed, and a block heater. The 2004 improvements include the new hood latch, the new differential lock pedal, but I'm not sure if the lights were changed also. On my first test in snow removal, it pushed the snow like it wasn't even there. I definitely concur with the other bx1500 posters here and on other sites that it has plenty of power and it is not necessary to pay more for a bx2230 which now uses the D902 engine. This is the 3 cylinder version of the more recently developed bx1500 engine, as opposed to the much older D905 engine on the bx2200. Can't wait for more snow to plow to get over my break-in period before I have to start mowing in the spring.

I will say the BX1500 does very well with a 2 cylinder engine. Mine beats my old 22 HP Cub hands down at mowing/snow removel. Does all this in half the time and with half the fuel used. The only thing I don't like is the ruff idel, but thats easy fix by bumping up the rpm's. Enjoy your new toy!!

I'm so glad to hear you're pleased with the BX1500. I'm in the market to purchase one right now and was concerned it didn't have enough power and would have to go with the BX1800. After reading your post, I'm confident the 1500 will do the job. Can I ask what you paid for it?
I got a quote of $8700 for the BX1500-54. Not sure now if it's a 2003 or on a new 2004. I'll have to ask the dealer to confirm.

I figured someone was probably going to ask the price. I paid $10,235 for the tractor, loader, 54" mower, engine block heater, and $365 for the Woods RBC60 blade and rubber horse mat to protect an asphalt driveway.
