2004 DK45 / Turf Tires

Hello from down south!! New Member....
I recently bought a 2004 DK 45. Great tractor that has been well taken care of.

I would like to buy a set of R4 tires and new rims for the tractor. I need the turf tires for mowing, but would like to have more traction for the farm.
Any purchasing advice would be appreciated!!

How about a set of chains on the rear of your existing set up?
Also how well ballasted is your operation when using the machine down on the farm? I assume down on the farm is maybe FEL work? Do you have enough rear ballast?

I'm not familiar with chains for the rear of the tractor and the farm use would be light ground work and bush hogging in some wet areas. As far as ballast, I'm not really sure?

Well here are my thoughts. R4s don't offer a significant amount more traction in wet areas than the turfs you already own. Their advantage is more puncture resistance and stiffer sidewalls to carry heavier loads. R1 ags will offer better traction in wet areas.

Swapping rear tires is not like on a car. These things are heavy (especially if filled) and you probably need machinery to move and install them. I can handle an unfilled front tire by myself but I wouldn't even attempt a filled rear.
