James it is so easy to remove the loader that I don't know why you would ever want to mow with it on. Try it without once, and I think you'll really like the difference in handling when mowing.

Well, it should be no surprise that everyone who has Supersteer really likes it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I really don't doubt them a bit about the capabilities of that system and the very nice Sensitrak feature. I'm just encouraging you or anyone else to try it before you buy it. Even if it's not a Class III Boomer, I'd try to get on a tractor with supersteer before I bought one. If you can't find one, that's another story, but I think everyone would recommend it if possible. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh yes! I almost forgot. The movement of Supersteer does not cause the 17LA to wag like a dog's tail. Your loader will be very rigid. What happens is that when you turn, the front axle rotates so that as it moves clockwise, for example, the front of the tractor has the natural movement in the opposite direction. This is multiplied by the distance your loader is out in front of the pivot point and that's what causes the loader moverment. Remember, just because the manual says "up to 8 in." doesn't mean it will move that much each time you turn. That's probably more like 2" or 3".

Well, I was a little intimated at first to remove the loader and I had some old dead tree limbs I needed to move with it on. However, with <font color="blue">Jinman's </font> nice informative post on removing his 16LA loader, mine is now off and I must say it was very easy. Jim I will most definitely try one out before hand. Just wanted to basically know if supersteer was going to meet what I expected of it. Because I did have my mind made up before to leave the option out. If I weren’t worried so much about the finish mowing end of it I would definitely not consider it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm waiting to get a written in paper estimate for my 530ft driveway right now. I'm going to need some heavier excavating work done for it. That's holding me up right now from going and getting this tractor or at least ordering it. I'm planning on putting a decent down payment on the tractor and need to know how much the driveway work is going to amount to before hand./forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Most anyone with standard 4 WD can tell you that when you make a turn the inside and outside wheels are turning or rolling at the same speed so the turf suffers as a result.

Having had both SuperSteer and non SuperSteer versions of a TN75 I can also make a case that SuperSteer tears up an area more because at full axle and wheel rotation, the tire is at such a blunt angle to the forward motion of the tractor and acts as a plow and pushes everything in front of it making a mess. I traded in the SuperSteer because of its weird loader oepration and the inheritent loss of stability when using a loader on a SuperSteer tractor. Liek I've said before if mowing was all I did I would want SuperSteer, but not on a general purpose tractor.

James, thanks for the kind words. I think once you remove and reinstall the loader, you'll say, "Wow! Is that all there is to it?"

Alignment is critical on reinstalling the loader, as is hooking up the hydraulic lines and then using them to help position the arms for a perfect fit of the posts into the tractor's upright supports.

There is a grease fitting you can only get to with the loader removed. It's in a recessed hole on the posts near the bottom. Everytime I take my loader off, I give that fitting a shot of grease and I also grease the mounting pins on the tractor just before reinstalling the loader. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm not disagreeing with that. What I was trying to say is that is no different than manually shifting out of 4WD. In both cases each front tire is free to rotate at it's own speed. It's only a benefit if you need 4WD some of the time in your mowing.

Hmmmm, I see what you are saying however let me add that my property is by no means flat ground. I am sure that as a result my SensiTrak is engaging FWD as it deems necessary when mowing. If the 4WD is engaged at the time and I make a turn then the FWD is automatically disengaged. I make no intervention and my grass comes out a winner as a result.

My last tractor was manual FWD and while I was mowing naturally on the majority it was in FWD did I always put it back in TWD before I turned, no, and as a result my turf suffered. Could I, Should I, would I, have put it in TWD manually then everything would have been the same.

I guess I'm saying that if modern technology like hydro transmissions, cruise control, SuperSteer, and SensiTrak are available, and if they save me time and make my job easier then by all means I will use them. That is my personal choice.

If other tractor owners are comfortable with a clutch, and a manual transmission, and a manually operated FWD then I say so be it as it's purely a personal choice for them as well.

If I were a betting man I would still bet that of all the tractor owners that have used Sensitrak and SuperSteer that the majority would tell you that they are well pleased with the product just as I am.
