I have been searching around for a compact tractor. I was just made this offer by a dealer and have no idea if it's worthwhile (new to the tractor thing). I am hoping some of you veterans will weigh in on this.

2005 Kubota 2410. This is another 24 hp diesel, with 4wd and hydrostatic drive. It includes loader with a 49 bucket, a 60 mid-mount mower, a 4 bush-hog type rear cutter, and a 3-point hitch mounted blade. It has 265 hours, and is priced at $11,500.

I have 3 acres to mow (slight hillside) but I'm also on my Dad's farm. I hope to help him with the loader on light work (moving a wood pile, graveling the drive). But the main use of the tractor will be mowing. If you have any suggestions other than this tractor, I'm open to the suggestions.
Thanks,
Josh

I have owned a B2410 HST, FEL, and 60" RFM. This is a solid tractor and should handle your needs. Your dealer price looks very good if the tractor in nice condition. I sold mine for a BX23 but missed the B2410. The B2410 rides better tham the subcompact, has a better HST pedal which doesn"t stick, and has a 3 pt position control.

I have since traded up to a B3030 HST with FEL for a little over $17,000. This is also a geat tractor and can handle a 5' brushhog. I like the 3 range HST transmission.

Mowing uphill with the B2410 may require you be in low range whereas on the 3 range HST of the B3030 would allow medium range in uphill mowing.

That sounds like a very good deal. If it doesn't show any signs of abuse and the dealer will stand behind it, I'd jump on it. 265 hours is barely broken in. If taken care of, it should be good for 5000 hours before needing an overhaul.

With the attachments, the biggest question is whether the mower driveline and spindles were kept greased. I'm sure the dealer will be able to tell.

The position control on the 3PH is a big plus. Wish my B7610 had it. If your lawn is fairly level, like mine, I don't think you'll miss having a 3rd range. My lawns are kinda rough and mowing in low range is not a problem; normally I wouldn't want to go any faster. But high range works fine for mowing when I do.

The B2410/7610 is a nice sized tractor and perfect for most residential tasks especially if there's lots of trees and obstacles to deal with. The features of the current B2630 and B3030 are very appealing, but among the obstructions I deal with, they're just too big.
