2005 CC 2554
I am seriously considering the purchase of a CC 2554. I currently own a Husqvarner GT 220 Kohler (22hp) w/hydro, 50" deck, 875 hours. The tranny has pretty much gone out. I pull several attachments (until recently that is). I've seen several posts on the CC 2544 but nothing on a 2554. This would be my first CC. So far, I am really impressed with this machine. I anticipate purchasing the electric sleeve hitch. I already have a manual sleeve hitch on my Husqvarner which takes quite a bit of arm strength to lift a plow or blade. Any feedback on the 2554 would be appreciated.

The GT2554 is the same machine as the GT2544. The only difference is the deck size (54 inch vs 44 inch) and a little horsepower (23 vs. 20).

I too had a Husqvarna but it was a yard tractor (a YTH-145), not a garden tractor like yours. My tranny bit the bullet at only 300 hours.

Compared to my Husqvarna, the Cub is in a different class in my opinion. They are heavy duty units and are built to last. Add-in the shaft drive and the beefy cast iron rear-end with external filter and you got a real winner that other brands can't match at this price point.

cager, you cant go wrong for the $ with a CC 2500 series machine. Unless you can get an awesome deal on a leftover 2005, I'd hold off for a 2006 model. 2006's will have more room behind the wheel, better seating, a nicer hood design & tigher turning radius. Bad side is a 2006 will probably cost a few hundred more than a 2005.

I have the next size down, the GT2550, using it to mow two lawns now and in the future. The only problem I had was the belt slipping off the mowing deck once, but that was easily rectified. Haven't had another problem since. Have the sleeve hitch and 3-bag bagger(great for cleaning up the leaves for the mulch pile). Have yet been able to use the sleeve hitch /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, though hoping to be able to start the procument process after the holidays.

Thanks for the insight on the 2006 model. I thought about that waiting for it to come out...but like you, I'm sure there will be what may be a several hundred dollar price increase. Just have to wait and see. I purchased the 2005 2554...should pick it up later this week.
