Well, they're picking up the Deere and dropping off the BX1500 today, so we'll see how it goes!

Good luck with it. I sold my JD rider and just use my BX MMM. Better and faster mowing with the BX.

I am looking forward to it. When we bought the Deere we had a fairly flat lot we were renting while we waited to close on the new house, and I didn't know anything about the K46 beyond that they failed if you didn't change the fluid. We ended up with 5 mountain acres that are just a bit too trying for the Deere. I figured it was only a matter of time before the new transaxle took a dump too.

Congrats on the BX1500. Let us know how you like it. It should be a good tractor for you.

I'm kind of in the same boat that you were. I need something better than a lawn mower with a K46 in it. Would like something with a locking diff or 4wd. But the idea of spending $5k for a lawnmower is still hard to swallow. So far the only lawn tractor I have found in the $3k range is one made by Husky that has the k66 with a locking diff and a fabricated deck. I haven't looked for a used Kubota yet but figured I would once I was more serious (hoping to make it through this year). Let us know how it works out for you.

How do you like it JDL?

Sorry for the delay, wanted to wait until I had a couple of mowings in before I replied.

So far, so great! I've got about 3 hours on it since I bought it. I need to change the engine oil and fuel filters, hydro oil looks good.

Everything works really well. The power steering is great -- I can maneuver pretty tightly around some of the trees and things in the yard. Also, the tractor will climb some of the slight grades that vexed the John Deere, so I end up weedwacking less.

The ROPS takes some getting used to -- a couple of trees that I used to just roll right under or duck to get under have gotten whacked.

I may eventually get turf tires for it as it has an industrial-type bar tire on it. Not a problem but maybe more aggressive than necessary for the yard. Cut is great although the 54" deck glosses over some areas where there is a contour so I've had to adjust my mowing to come at them from the side of the deck so it doesn't straddle small ravines, etc.

All in all, I like it a lot and would do it again. Waaaay more tractor than I could have gotten in a gas model for the same price.

Also I think it's quieter than the L130 was. LOL.

My wife was initially skeptical about the need for a second orange tractor but I showed her how to use it and she can mow pretty well with it too, although I generally end up doing most of the mowing. A few more things to know than the Deere for her but once she gets the hang of starting in neutral, engaging the PTO, etc., she's good.

Also should add, I ordered a copy of the owner's manual from the Kubota dealer, which was nice to have. Learned a few things about it that will be helpful.

Does anyone know how to take the deck off one of these? The owner's manual doesn't cover the deck, viewing it as an attachment. I haven't been looking too hard yet but I haven't found a PDF manual that will tell me how to take it off. I imagine it needs to come off to access the hydro filter when it's time to change that.
