2005 TYM sales in USA

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( how many TYMs sold last year? )</font>
I do not know how many TYM-USA sold. TYM-America sold none because they did not start shipping until about 4 weeks ago.
</font><font color="blue" class="small">( How long have they been in the U.S )</font>
Again I do not know. Mahindra I think had them here first and they built their compact tractor reputation with them. (Yes I know they now also have the mitsu units as well)

Whatever the past numbers were they are not large. As I said before we cannot change the past only the future. For you to better understand their growth potential lets have this same discussion a year from now and see how things are going. Until than lets all try to sell as many tractors as possible and make every customer happy.

Dave
There is a deductible for the last 3 years; it is $250 per occurrence. I disagree with you about warranties with deductibles. The purpose of the last 3-year part of the warranty is for catastrophic failure and not for nickel and dime issues. I think most customers would prefer a five year warranty even with deductibles rather than a two or three year warranty. If for some unusual reason the engine or the transaxle dies in the third through fifth year $250 for the parts is a small price compared to the total parts cost.

Chpperman,

Thanks for the clarification on the deductible per occurence parts only part of the warranty. It is certainly better than having no warranty for the last three years, so we agree on that.

I just see "5 year warranty" really marketed and I would have been very impressed if it was for 5 year parts and labor without deductible, even if only for drivetrain.

If Mahindra or Branson had it I am confident you would promote it!

PS: Now do not get me wrong if in the future we can convince TYM to include labor we will. "One day at a time"

Chipperman, yes I would promote it, but since the last three years is such a diminishment from the first two, I think I'd at least put in a "limited" or "ask for details" disclaimer up front. We have a local TYM dealer that doesn't seem to explain this to customers...but as a free public service we have been helping people understand /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The TYM is a good machine, as is the Montana and Kioti and the brands we sell, Mahindra and Branson. It's the Big three that should be worried!

Good luck in this new line.

Chipperman, thanks for finding out about the warranty info, I really do appreciate it. I will let my customers know.

I have talked with Robert Mullett on quite a few occasions. He is intelligent, well spoken and has obviously been in the game for a while. I don’t think there was ever a question that his motivation was to promote TYM-USA. His future is directly tied to TYM's success. It is the people running the show out west that were impossible "for me" to work with.

I understand a learning curve but we are not talking about people new to the tractor game. Everybody I met from TYM was an ex executive at Kioti. In fact we couldn’t have a conversation where it wasn’t evident that TYM-USA was almost personal revenge against Kioti letting them go after Korea took over the US side of Kioti. These are the people who on numerous occasions and emails said “we built Kioti”.

In my first meeting with Dale Owens in Portland I asked if TYM had a web site besides the Korean one that next to tractors also advertised silverware and cigarette filters. He said quote “we don’t put much stock in the internet, people don’t shop for tractors online, they want the salesman to explain features, prices and specifications”. The whole drive back from Portland my partner and I laughed our butts off.

I loved selling TYM, I could sell as many as I could get my hands on. I sold the T330 with loader for $13500 and the T400 for $14900. I t was the easiest thing to sell that we had ever bought. I thought my competition was JD and New Holland but I soon realized it was other TYM dealers. I paid cash for everything I bought to get the discount, I was already a high volume dealer for Koyker so my loader cost was low. I soon found out I was selling the tractor at a good profit for less than it cost the other TYM dealers. Dealers who were paying flooring fees and had high overhead Next thing I knew I could not advertise the price but other dealers could. I had to remove the tractor specs from my web site. I had to stop advertising Kubota and John Deere engines. I spent thousands of dollars building a web site to promote TYM and was threatened by lawsuits if I published it. I wanted to be part of a team working toward TYM being a real player in my area but I was treated as a threat not an asset. The paranoia was thick in the air of every meeting. I wont go into all the reasons we dropped TYM because it would take ten pages but between the hostel phone calls, meetings and unpaid warranty claims we could no longer do business with them. For two years now all my customers warranty work has come out of my pocket.

Like you said this is all in the past but TYM has been here since 02 two years earlier than Mahindra (came west) and 3 years earlier than Montana and 4 years earlier than Farmtrac (came west). You would think that Mahindra, Montana and Farmtrac would be playing catch-up right. NOPE. It is the other way around. TYM has always had the better product so why are they not the brand to beat, I don’t know but I know for a fact that I would have sold 100+ tractors in the first year and at a minimum 50% more the next year and they couldnt have been happier when I dropped their tractor line. Makes sense right? Right…

One thing that is a fact is that I don’t compete with any new tractor dealer and after TYM I will probably never sell another new tractor for any company. My customers are not the same customers you have. So even if TYM kills they are no threat to me

Don’t take this as an attack against TYM or you. I know you’re a good dealer and I think people should look at TYM and seriously consider it, It is a super tractor.

On how many TYM have been sold in the US, I think of the
7500+ Mahindras sold in the US last year 5000 were TYM.
Dave- you can maybe verify if this correct.

EFC, I did not take it as an attack.

Sorry you had the difficulties you did. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
