I would look for something else $16,000 for a truck with that many miles and one of the least desirable engines ford every had. I would rather have a dodge or older ford.
You can get a base model 3500 4x4 srw standard cab dodge for around $28k or a new diesel dodge for not much over 30 or a new ford 4x4 gas cc srw for around $32,000 just depends on your were you look. Used truck prices are crazy, and if you use it for a farm the tax write-off makes a new truck very much easier to step up to if you can handle a xl truck.

I would not under any circumstances buy a 6.0. There are ways to fix them and some people get lucky and do have problems but they are the most troublesome diesel engine ever put in a ford.

I don't remember what that engine is called in the internationals VT-365 maybe? Anyway it is the identical engine to the 6.0 but was in medium duty international trucks and people avoid them like the plague.

I'd stay away, Fords problem engine made by International. They can be "bulletproofed" but unless you can verify that it has been done, I'd pass.

It was a vt365, but was much more reliable in Internatinal trim. Ford was fighting the HP war and turned tbe 6.0 up too much.

They may have snapped the pic as soon as the engine was started. Those two lights stay on for a few seconds.

As Dodge Man mentioned, I wouldn't touch a 6.0 unless it had been bulletproofed. This truck is more inline with what a 6.0 is worth. These guys also offer an in house Earthquake (bulletproof) option. If that's the case, it wasn't a very smart move on their part. Anyone with a sharp eye could see it and have second thoughts about looking at the truck further.

Is this 'the fix' for these vehicles? And is it 'worth the price' for fixing a 6.0L?

I'm willing to drive a truck back from Dallas... if I am sure it will do the job. Much better than towing a truck to the mechanic to get it fixed.

I've never done business with them, but they have addressed the known problems and even added a nice list of available upgrades. I'll put it this way...because of the engine's poor rep, low mileage 6.0's can be had for pretty low prices and having a local shop that specializes in them has more than peaked my interest.

That listing shows the truck has the 6.0L diesel and then states that it has the 6.8L V10 has engine. Based on the 8th digit of the VIN number and the badge on the door, the truck has the diesel. I know a few people who have had the 2006 6.0L diesel and they all had engine issues at some point. I would prefer this diesel to the 6.4L diesel that was offered from 2008 to 2010, but the 7.3L (99-03) with the 6-speed manual was the most reliable setup.

Both my v10's have the V10 insignia on the front fender just behind the head lamp. Don't see it on that truck. I would think you could pick up a V10 for less than the diesel. If you are just going to haul locally and around the farm seems like it would be a good choice. So far my V10's have pulled what I have hooked to them. Have pulled 2 18 wheelers out of the mud (they were not stuck deep, just lost traction on the rear drive).
