Its funny, when I was a kid I hated working in the garden mainly because I had to and had rather have a burger or most any kind of fast food than what we grew. Now I'm 40 years old and I am just the opposite. I think of that everytime my 17 year old complains about having to work in the garden . Things sure change

Same here, my grandmother on my mothers side always had a backyard full of flowers. She had all types. And my grandmother on my dads side always had a huge veggie garden. My mouth still waters thinking about it. Anyhow as kids we could care less, we were way to busy doing what all kids do.

Now that I'm older I enjoy the hard work associated with a garden. And I really enjoy the fruits of our labor the most.

Tony, been very dry in the Midlands too. Nice looking soil you have up there. Mostly sand here. Lost most of tomatoes to bottom end rot and this hord of grasshoppers we have this year. May have to come visit if we get hungry this winter. We gardened big time when I was a kid. Hated every minute of it up until eating time. Now I find it more and more as therapy. Does a mind and a body good. Not to mention the stomach.
