As I understand it, they're pretty different machines. The ranger will be faster, smoother, lighter. The RTV heavier, more powerful and slower. Drive both of them and get what you need. Personally, in a UTV, I think I'd want a gas motor. Most of my use would be to fire it up, run it for ten minutes, and shut it down, also, lots of starting and stopping. I'd just feel better doing that to a gasser (or even go electric) than a diesel.
I'm just the opposite. I'll take the diesel in that situation as well as many others.
Only gas engines are my wife's Jeep GC, chainsaws and weedeater.
