I feel your pain. My NH1920 has electrical/starter problems galore. I replaced the starter only to find the original starter was fine; installed push-button shunt between the starter post and solenoid, which has now quit working; have used the 'sparky' screwdriver shunt between the starter post and solenoid; rodents chewed my dash wiring harness in half. Replacing the electrical relay parts that Mike Ward shows on this posting https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...rd-1920-not-starting-not.html?highlight=relay has been the most help. If your TC40 has similar relay sets, it might help to replace them.

especially the seat safety
i messed with mine (tc45d) for a year and a half. ended up replacing several small electrical items each time it seemed to fix it fir a short time. the seat safety kept testing good but i changed it out of frustration and problem has gone away for 3 years so far
good luck
