2007 Polaris Ranger 700XP

Dave the Range sounds nice and is what I would have preferred but the kids wanted an ATV because that was what their late grandfather trained them to operate and I wanted something with no shifting due to a stiff left knee was toy money was short (it will be a working machine too) so $1500 was all I wanted to spend. We got a 2002 Polaris Magnum 325 as I have posted. Ours is in about 100 pieces right now but so far impressed. The kids are out to church camp so I have just let it set this week while some parts some in like the new carb boot. The O-ring that goes to the head was flat and I think sucking some air that was impacting the idle. The front prop shaft (makes some sharp angles) U joints were worn so I picked up two at NAPA. NAPA 338 is the part number for a lot of Polaris machines for new U joints and cost about $15 locally. Picked up the thick OEM shop manual off of Ebay for $40 that was almost grease free.

So far google has found me all of the forum posts that I have needed to understand the machine. When run hard we were getting smoke from under the gas tank when it was shut off in a major way so I knew we had some oil leaking onto the exhaust. One of the access plugs to adjuster the valves could be removed by hand and the O-rings were hard and not sealing any longer. The valves were at .020 and we adjusted them back to .005 thousandths.

The kids are cleaning and painting before putting the skin back on. We are replace all oil, gas, etc rubber lines/hoses while we have the oil cooler off and gas tank. Not sure if it is OEM belt or not but the PVT is an awesome feature.

Bottom line I would jump on that Ranger if you want/need it and the price is in the ball park based on our short ownership of a Polaris machine. OEM parts online seem to come through the Polaris warehouse then go to the shipping dealer so about two weeks may be required to get some parts but they have most any part in the parts diagrams which are on line. Again it seems like the back end is the same for all online OEM parts sources.

Let us know how it goes.
