It only has less then 50K miles on it.
I just had the oil changed at the dealership.
I know little about diesels, not sure where to start.

Got any ideas?

Thanks
Charlie

Get it back to the dealer.

There are probably over 100 things that it can be.....there is a tool that car parts places and dealers have that read the codes that can begin to clue you into what has happened. Basically, there is a computer which looks at lots of things and turns on that one light when any one of them is out of specification. Some car parts places will read the code for you for no charge. It can be something minor such a loose fuel cap... or major...but best to get it looked at by someone who can read the codes.

I agree with DP. If your dealer just changed the oil I'd call the dealer immediately.

Exactly. Thet could have bumped a wiring harness or something. You can try unhooking the batteries for 10 minutes then try starting it up. If its a real code and not some phantom thing it will trip the CEL again. Problem with doing this is you lose your radio presets and stuff.

If it were me I would drain the fuel filter under the drivers seat on the frame first. Just let it drain for a few seconds.
May be just a little water in that filter, if you haven't changed the fuel filters in the last 10 or 15,000 miles
then you need to do that. Only use Motorcraft filters on your 6.4. Don't let a auto parts store scan your truck.
Most don't have a good enough scan tool to check out our trucks. Drive your truck hard and work it hard and it will last a long time.

On late model Fords they have a Water In Fuel light that is seperate from the CEL. Not saying its a bad thing to drain the filter, will not hurt a thing, but its more than likely not the issue.

Not sure about the '08 Ford, but first thing, and easiest is check the fuel cap, I've 1 car that gave me that code when it was just a loose fuel cap.
Then take it to the dealer.

Take it to any of the chain auto parts stores and ask them to read the codes.
