I purchased this tractor last summer without a mid-mower. This summer I purchased a 2015 model year 62D mower deck. I purchased the linkage system and installed the mower deck. It all seemed to connect correctly, no issues. The mower deck had a PTO shaft attached. When I tried connecting the PTO shaft it was too short by about 2 1/2" (great!). I called and spoke to a local John Deere dealer who sells mainly John Deere lawn mowers and garden tractors. He ordered a new PTO half that should work. Well, it was about 1 1/2" longer than what I have but still too short. From what I've researched and now read on this forum and what I could find there are 3-4 differently labeled 62" mid-mount mower decks as described under "Model" which is directly under the serial number. I have found by looking at used mower decks for sale the following: 62D1, 62D2, 62" MOWER and 62" MOWER D. The labeling for models did not seem to be consistent with the model year. I found mower decks for sale from 2006 to 2018 and there seemed no rime or reason as far as what "model" they were. The 2015 mower deck that I purchased model is 62" MOWER. Can anyone out there help me find the right PTO shaft?? I'm about ready to take the one I have to a weld shop a have the shaft part re-fabricated so it fits!
