2008 L3240 275 Hours R4s/514 FEL/66" Std Bucket/3PT Ballast /Block Heater Price Check

Just got a call from local Kubota dealership. They have a consignment unit as described in Subject...not -3 version. The owner died so his wife has at Kubota on consignment. Dealer says only attachment used was loader around the "farm". I put in quotes as farms in Northern Minnesota are kind of hobbies. Seems like the rest is "basic" w/o many options or attachments.

Consignment asking price is $18.5K. Best I can tell from Kubota product configurator the current price for new list is about $25K w/the FEL and options.

My initial reaction is that the $25K could be negotiated at least 10%...and you get some 0% interest...I think 48 months...which is worth something...plus you get warranty.

The $18.5 does not sound like a great deal? It is probably not a "terrible" deal?

Your thoughts? Thanks...TMR

I don't think it would be of interest to me. The loader is the smaller one for the tractor. It also has the 66" bucket so if you'll need to keep the tires in the narrow configuration or the rear tires will be wider than the bucket. You can always go to Tractorhouse.com and check on used prices but my guess is that's an average price depending on if it has the HST+ transmission.

Thanks crazyal...kind of my thought also. In addition to what you mentioned...the $18.5K is too close to the probable discounted new price...with the larger loader and bucket and the newest version of the L3240...I think -3?

I realize they may want an offer but not sure at what point it would be a "great" value? Probably less than the will get for it? Giving up 48 months 0% interest and factory warranty is pretty significant to first time buyer (probably for experienced buyers also!).

Any thoughts on what a "great" price might be? To offset the lack of some current features (-3), the 0% interest, the factory warranty, the depreciation to date , the smaller loader and bucket and ???

Thanks...TMR

Re: 2008 L3240 275 Hours R4s/514 FEL/66" Std Bucket/3PT Ballast /Block Heater Price C

I base my price off of things like the shape of the tractor, if it has the features that I want, if it's close to me or a long haul, things like that. But I would also look into what a new one would cost using the "build my Kubota" and then discounting it by about 10%. Then add in how much interest would cost me if I was going to take a loan on the tractor. The warranty wouldn't mean too much to me as I don't think I'd need it.

The narrow bucket could be replaced with a wider one for not too much money. I could live with the loader since I have a larger tractor but it would bother me. The only other question would be what type of transmission, if it wasn't HST+ I probably would just keep looking.

I need to clarify just what the differences are with current model. Dealer mentioned the new units have "tier 4" engine and electronic hydraulics...vs manual hydraulic link?

It may have the HST+ if the 2008 model had same "features" as the current model? I think it does have the "extra" speed/throttle related features that I still don't quite understand...but they sound positive.

Is the "Tier 4" engine a positive/neutral/negative feature of new units? What about electronic hydraulic control vs manual?...

Thanks crazyal...any other GL guys out there?

Thanks...TMR

P.S. Test drove it today. Looked clean...HST+...only uses for FEL work. FEL made some "noise" when starting to raise...dealer said needed some grease. Smaller bucket and FEL (514) looked "OK"...not sure if I would miss the strength of the larger FEL/bucket. Dealer said probably will sell $17.5-$18K...I don't necessarily doubt him??? TMR

Most of the differences between the -1 and the -3 models are very minor. The PTO is now a knob and it's electrically controlled. The older ones are a lever with linkage. The seat swivels now (but only a few degrees). There might be a few other little things as well. I'm not sure if having a tier 4 engine is an advantage.

Small world, wow! I just registered here and do a search on this model and come to learn this is the tractor I bought, exact one!

Anyway, I knew this was the small loader, didn't bother me as I won't use it a ton. Anyway, my final price was much better than what was originally shown here, great tractor and I'm excited to use it more in the spring!
