2009 F-150 what do you think?

Personally I didnt like the new look at first but after looking at it all day its starting to grow on me. Especially the Lariat. As far as looks I think it comes in second just after the new GMC and deffinately better than the Tundra and Silverado. I just hope the "upgraded" 5.4 will be better than my 5.4 2 valve, at least untill they get the 4.4 diesel into it.

I don't like it, it's too roundish and car-like for me. I like hard edges and a rugged look. I have always loved the looks of the Rams and the 2009 is still the best looking truck out there in my eyes. Plus with a 380hp 404ft lb 5.7 HEMI, it will replace my 03 HEMI Ram as soon as it hits the showroom.

Yea, I wouldnt say I like the looks of the ram that much,(the front end reminds me of a mustang, but if deffinatley has the capibility with the hemi and the cool bed compartments. I like the factoru dual exhuast though.

They need to get a couple or three other things straight before just messing with the sheet metal cosmetics.
1) A diesel that WORKS.
2) A transmission that can take what the engines can put out - WHEN such engines run, see item 1) above.
3) A gas engine that WORKS, but you mentioned the 5.4 in the base post.

I agree with you. And you're right, the 4.4L diesel will be the perfect compliment. Never much cared for the modular Ford gas engines.

I am a Ford Guy but those head lights will have to grow on me. Don't care much for the looks of the new Chevy (2007 and before look good) the GM's are a little better, and really don't care for the new Dodge, looks soft, lost that hard Ram look. I will be very interested in the Diesel and the MPG and cost associated.

I like the looks of this new styling. A few things I like is the 6 speed automatic tranny, tailgate step, side box steps and hopefully the improved engines or even the diesel if it comes out finally.

I would love to get one of these trucks to take over the Ava hauling duties that I currently use the F-250 diesel for. I use our trucks hard and I have only recalled one problem with the auto tranny in the 98' F-150 and I wasn't even driving it. I had a friend use my truck to pull a load of 200 bales of hay up to the farm and he went up a very steep hill. He said the truck couldn't make it up the hill and pulled over. By the time I got there I started the truck up and it walked up the hill. I don't know what their problem was but for what I put my trucks thru I have been happy with the trannys in the Fords. But like tractors, the more gears the better. And hopefully Ford copied GM with being able to use the auto tranny like a manual.

Plus they finally put the integrated brake controller on the F-150.

I won't be able to consider buying one of these trucks till 2010's models so hopefully the diesel will be out by then.

Also, does anyone know if Ford is going to put a long bed on the Crew cab? Last I knew you could only get a 5.5' box on the crew cab. A 6.5' box would be better then nothing but a 5.5' is useless for anything but groceries

I agree, the looks on the Dodges have gone down hill since the new Rams of the mid to late 90's. Those trucks had a great look. This new version looks better then the last but they need to square the front end up some.

Yeah, the new 6-speed ought to make a nice improvement, my dad's navigator has it and its pretty smooth. I also like the new Trailer Sway Control they've put on it. Seems to me they shoulda put it on the Super Duty first though.

They now have 6.5' beds on the 2007 and newer Supercrew (4 door) F-150's. I got mine in May and it was a option when we ordered it but it would not fit in our garage. I don't let any of our vehicles, tractors, trailers, boats, ect sit outside. They all have a place in the garage or barn. My brother in law got a 6.5 bed on his new Supercrew in June after coming out of a 2005 Supercrew. He said you can tell the difference when you go through a drive up or to a parking lot.
