They now have 6.5' beds on the 2007 and newer Supercrew (4 door) F-150's. I got mine in May and it was a option when we ordered it but it would not fit in our garage. I don't let any of our vehicles, tractors, trailers, boats, ect sit outside. They all have a place in the garage or barn. My brother in law got a 6.5 bed on his new Supercrew in June after coming out of a 2005 Supercrew. He said you can tell the difference when you go through a drive up or to a parking lot.

Well, at least they finally put a 6.5' box on. At least with that box if you drop the tailgate the 8' material is completely supported by the truck and you can haul 12' material without worrying.

The New F-150 made the front page of todays USA Today. There is a small side note on the new Dodge.

Detroit 2008: Live intro of the 2009 Ford F-150 - Autoblog

Media.Ford.com:

Personally I didnt like the new look at first but after looking at it all day its starting to grow on me. Especially the Lariat. As far as looks I think it comes in second just after the new GMC and deffinately better than the Tundra and Silverado. I just hope the "upgraded" 5.4 will be better than my 5.4 2 valve, at least untill they get the 4.4 diesel into it.

What do you think?

Like the looks of my '01 F150 gasser a lot better. Only complaint is that frickin' COPS setup. Replaced 3 of those coil units so far and only 75,000 miles on the odometer.

Are you the original owner? I got word that the COPS have a extended warranty through Ford at no cost to the owner. I personally have never had a problem and have owned a 2001, 2003, another 2003, and a 2007. My brother in law had one go and he said it was a 5 minute fix. He needed it fixed asap so he went on his lunch break to Auto Zone, did not want to wait at the dealers. The guy there told him which one it probably was and was right. I cant remember what cylinder but it was closest to the exhaust. His was a 2001 5.4 and he said the part was cheap. All in all its a good system. Lots of redundancy.

I do not understand what Dodge is trying to do with those fender tool boxes. If you buy the truck with them you loose a lot of box volume and you can not use a crossover tool box. It appears the only use is for the weekend warrior who uses a truck for a daily driver to and from work. If they could have worked the storage a little different it would have accomplished the same thing without as big a sacrifice for the construction and farm market. I would love to have a spot like that on my truck that would be used for tie downs, tow straps, clevis, drawbar, hitch pins and other truck essentials that you don't use on a regular basis. This way you always have them but you don't need what appears to be a 12" wide box rail. Why would you need to carry a basket ball in the fender storage? Tackle box? These bulky items will fit in the box of the truck just fine (I know, I have tried it). It is a nice idea but in my mind very poor execution as they gave up too much to get so little.

But it will sell well as not too many contractors and farmers buy Dodges. They mostly buy Fords and GM's. Dodge could have sold a lot more if they thought it thru.

I'm not sure anybody builds a truck that is really aimed at the construction/farm market anymore. Most are truly aimed now at the weekend warrior/soccer mom segement. Thus a side tool box that will hold a basketball.
My 97 Dodge 2500 and 03 F-150 are both work truck packages. Nice interiors with carpet, don't mix well with ranch work. I made a bad judgement call on the F-150. I should have gotten the F-250 even if it was meant to be my wifes truck more than mine. Light towing(a boat), fuel mileage and reliablity all are dissapointing with it so far.
The integrated brake controller going into the new F-150 should be a good thing.

Yes, my friend just bought a Lincoln Aviator and they told him about it. It was a 2004 with 60,000 miles but they said the COPS were covered for some time yet due to the extension.
