John Deere 2320
Hi Everyone,

Looking for some opinions. I went to my local dealer looking at the 2032r's. Worked out to be more than I wanted to spend. He showed me a 2009 2520 they just took in. It has 100 hours. Looks brand new, 200cx loader, 62d deck with independent hydraulic lift and diverter. Ballast box, loaded turf tires and front and rear work lights. They want $17,500. I have a 2009 2320 with 223 hours, 200cx loader and 54d deck with mechanical lift. He's willing to give me $12,000 on trade. Only reason I am thinking of upgrading is over the winter I noticed some engine power loss snowblowing with a newly acquired 54" JD blower for my 1000' driveway when going uphill. Anyway, just seeing if folks think it's worth the additional money for a larger motor, hydraulic pumps, bigger deck with hydraulic independent lift etc? Appreciate your comments

Is your 2320 short on power with 54" blower or do you have a power loss as in something is wrong with your tractors motor?

Nothing wrong with tractor at all. Just bogs down at times. Does it while mowing but was more noticeable with some of the snow storms here this year.

You can't go wrong with extra width on the mower. It speeds up the large areas of grass plus you can reach a little more under tree and shrubs.
That being said, i don't know you'll really notice the 2 HP difference especially considering it will cost $5k. I'm in the same situation with my 2320 and tilling. I think to see a noticeable difference, you'd have to go to a 2720. I think that's why the eliminated the 2520 with new model changes. IMO.

Yeah. Agree. I have a 60" king kutter tiller and I notice it there as well. I do agree with potentially not noticing the extra 2hp. Maybe I'll push him more on the 2032r but the price jump there was pretty steep. $24,300 out the door similarly equipped as the 2520 they had.

Or should I try to get the 2520 for less? Interested in others thoughts on the price of the 2520 knowing the slight differences in the machine from the 2320.

This is my thoughts on it. If you are going to gain only 2 hp more and your tractor only has 200 hrs on it there is no way I would be trading it off. You will not even notice the extra 2 hp. I would be looking at the hyd pump size and any other features between the 2. You also know what care you tractor has had and know nothing about the one on the dealers lot.

go with 2032 you should get more of a trade-in value too, I have the 2720 of the last model line and there is a big difference between the 2320 an2720. hp is not the only thing to consider there is the torque also. plus your trade-in in the years to come down the road

I've got a 2011, 2720. It's got loads of power. I've got a 5' tiller. When I told my dad I bought the tiller he said that I didn't have enough power for it. Having used it for three years now, I wish I had gone with a 6' tiller. It doesn't bog down at all. I mow with the 62" deck, just off idle at something like 1500rpm. It never bogs down. I get 5-6hrs per 5 gallons of fuel. I also have the 54" snow thrower. I can't understand why they did away with the 60" thrower the old 955's used to have. Yes, the snow thrower sometimes does require more power to operate. When there is a good foot of heavy snow. It's not like my tractor bogs down and is underpowered. It's more like, the only time that I actually hear it work at all, doing anything.

I can't speak on the 2520 but I am completely happy with the power of the 2720. I did notice that my hp rating is 31.4 and the new 2032 is 31.7hp. After seeing this thread, I think I would skip the 2520 and go to the larger engine. The only problem is that it may be a little more difficult to find a used one. It seemed like most people bought the 2520.
