Hi I'm going to look at a Kubota MX5100 geared, loader, it has a small leak from rear PTO, roughly 5500 hrs. Is there anything I need to look for, sounds, etc besides the normal, clutch, engine noises, wear points, greased fittings, etc.?? I know people will say just about anything to unload it on to someone else but for around $10k cash deal I can't touch anything comparable! Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Looks like a good deal to me. The rear pto leak should be an easy repair

5.5k hrs are quite a few, but maybe not so much for a well cared machine. single owner? maintenance log? could be a good deal, but i'd hire a tractor mechanic to take a look as well. other than that, you may be onto something

btw i once owned an MX5000 w/a manual shuttle shift (clutching required). was a solid bare bones machine. only thing i didn't like was lower gear was not synch.
be sure to check there is no clutch slippage under load, regards

Could be the wrong tractor for you. What are you using it for? A small tractor like that for utility purposes can be really handy if it's hst. The gearing is great for bigher ground engaging tractors, but hst is perfect for a tractor that size.

agree w/above post. OP: what's your application & future growth expectations?

What area are you? In hills the back tyres will need to be replaced as the tread will let you slip off hillsides.
If you intend to do a lot of loader work a hydro will be better.
Is your 1st gear slow enough for intended jobs?

Stating your budget, intended jobs, and area will help us advice you.

As your skill level increases, you will get misssion creep. Is this tractor big enough to be future proof?

Food for thought.
good luck.
