Me bad, I was thinking of the Excursion.
Ford might not make that any more:confused:

Nice ride. We are currently looking for a vehicle for my wife. I love the Expedition but she thinks it is too big. She has her heart set on the new Explorer.

Very nice. I like those now, especially since they turned my favourite (the Explorer) into a car based station wagon.
They seem to be mostly just wider than my Explorer, not a lot longer?....is it still pretty maneuverable? My wife has a heck of a time when she has to take my F-350 crew cab long box.

I'm not sure if this is any longer than an explorer, I would guess maybe a little. It looks to be a foot or so shorter than my reg cab 8ft bed fullsize pickup, both in wheelbase and total lenth. As far as manuverability, the turning radius seems pretty good for an suv of this size, but what realy sold my wife on it was how well the visibility is out the back of this vehicle. There are very few blind spots in this compared with her old Trailblazer and the Tahoes and Yukons that we drove. She is so so at backing up and with mirrors, not bad, but not a pro, and she has no problem manuvering this vehicle.

No biggee Mark. Ford quit making the Excursion around 04 or so, I think. It left somewhat of a hole in the market since it was the only recent Suv that large that could be had with a diesel, excluding the older suburbans with the 6.5 diesels.

05 was the last year of the Excursions. Still commanding a pretty penny. Considered getting one for the wife but just a tad too big for her....but I liked em.....

I passed on a real clean 03 with 45k on it about 2 monthes ago. It was a southern V10 4x4 loaded with leather. A coworker of my wife had it, and was the second owner. Asking price was $14000.00. I passed mostly because of the mileage and to a lesser degree was concerned that my wife would have issues driving it. If it were a 7.3 diesel, I would have bought immediatly.

I'm looking for a used 2000 to 2003 Excursion with a 7.3 diesel.

The problem is I can't find one with less than 200K miles on it. I had a 2001 F250 with a 7.3 and it was a great truck except for the front axel. I had it rebuilt 4 times in 150K miles.

I currently have a 2005 F 250 with the 6.0 diesel. No axel problems, but I'm not a big fan of the 6.0. I'll drive this truck until it can't be driven any more, but I would still like to add a large SUV to the fleet.

I'll probably go with a used 2010 expedition with a tow pack.

Good luck with the 2011!

I should clarify the 05 diesels I looked at were commanding good money.....around 18-20K with lo miles. I wouldn't mind an 05 6.0, my 06 6.0 has been pretty good.
But with diesel prices and the wife's desires, looks like I'll be shopping for an 08 Honda Pilot......hate to pay the big money for a brand new rig, although they look really nice.

Back in 08 when I bought my Nissan Titan I was looking for a used Excursion with a diesel. I did not care if it was a 7.3 or 6.0. I have had both and had great luck with them all. Anyway, all I could find was used V10's with 3.73's with over 100,000 miles. I like the V-10 but there is no way I am buying anything with that many miles uless its just to beat around in. I gave up after a 3 month search. I may have went for it if I could have found one with 4.10's but the 3.73's are just not enough gear for a 3/4 ton truck with a gas motor. Ok for a diesel, but not a gas in that size truck.
