2011 Tahoe vs 2011 Suburban

I am sure that options have a lot to do with it, I think I could still get a stripped down 'burban for low 40's new. The 4x2 vs 4x4 statement came from vehicles on Ebay from all around the country.

What I am looking for is something in the mid to high twenties and what I am finding in that range is usually a '08 with around 80-100k on it. Maybe the 40 grand was a little exaggerated, but definitely mid to high 30's- at least 5k or 6k higher than what he was looking at.

Didn't read all the responses, but as a 4 yr Tahoe owner, I would rather have the Suburban based on MY situation. With me, wife & 4 kids, space for gear is limited. We have lots of friends with Suburbans pushing 100-200K miles on them and love them.
Only negative difference is parking and garage spaces.

Well we walked away from both. The trade # was laughable at best. I have bought 4 vehicles from these guys and was very disappointed this time. They were courteous, just silly with the numbers. In a nutshell, my note was increasing 70$ a month on a 2 year old vehicle.

Depending on you hitch set up you may want to consider that the Suburban has a longer overhang in the rear than the Tahoe. If you are not using a load equalizing hitch you will get more sag with the same tongue weight on the Suburban.

Make sure you are getting a 2-speed transfer case if you want true 4x4 capability. A couple years ago, GM started to put single speed transfer cases in the Suburban/Tahoe/Avalanche. I would look for a 2008 Yukon XL Denali if low range isn't a priority. The 6.2L has gobs of power and gets 17-19 mpg on the highway. Another plus is the self-leveling air ride suspension and real leather on the third row seats.

Without reading much generally this is what I see.

Younger prefamily havin girls like the Tahoe
Younger prefamily guys like having the Suburban

Family ladies are seen more often in a Suburban.
Family men are seen more often in Tahoes.

I always notice this........

Anyway back to the OP I find more utiltiy in the suburban but the Tahoe seems like a better deal.

There are lots of Suburbans and Tahoes out there. You can easily put a factory Nav unit off ebay in one that doesn't have it. Leather is nice but the leather in the base model I don't believe offers seat warmers or something weird. I've looked at a few when I was thinking about getting serious with a girl that has a kid already (I'd need something more than a hotrod and 2 pimp work trucks).
Seems like the major differences in looks across the models are the mirror caps, door handles, foglights, and a chrome insert in the LTZ grill.

So I looked at a basic used one with leather and was going to get the factory 20s for it, factory nav, and put the chrome doodas the LTZ has on it. Pretty simple.

Tahoe has smaller rear side door opening which makes for more difficult entry for people over 6 feet tall. With the third row seats up, you can forget about hauling any bulky cargo (cooler, etc.) in the Tahoe. It has only 2/3rds the space of your Traverse behind the 3rd row (17 cubic feet versus almost 25).

Other than towing, the Traverse wins in overall interior storage due to the fact the seats just fold down instead of having to remove them. Towing is what is driving our decision to look at other options.

Have you tried towing the load with the Traverse? I know somebody who tows over 5000 pounds worth of tractor with his GMC Acadia and it seems to be alright on the trips of less than 30 miles that he takes.
