Just what I’ve read although I have known a couple of people with Ford diesels. It’s not a 6.0 or a 6.4, that’s good news. So far the 6.7 seems to be a winner, there are enough of them out there and getting some miles on them that I would think we would hear about reoccurring problems. That’s old enough it’s steel body. Is rust a problem in your area? If so check it for rust.

From I see for used diesels in my area, that looks to be a very fair price for the truck if it’s in good shape.

I’ve read about staying away from the 6.0 and 6.4.

I just don’t know about the reliability of the 6.7.

Thinking about buying this and getting a camper also.
Used to camp many moons ago when kids were little.

Tent camping then bought a popup.

Got 5 grandkids now and would like to get them outdoors and off their iPads.
Bout the only time they get to the woods is when there at our house.

We own 20 acres.

I’ve never owned a diesel and don’t want it to become a money pit with repairs.

My gut is telling me to get a 2500 6.0 or a f250 6.2 gas.

But this dually is really nice.

I just need something to pull 9-10k pound camper.

Would like your thoughts?

For what it's worth I just sold my 2016 6.7 that had 130,000 miles on it and had zero engine or trans issues

The only problems I had were a leaky radiator and bad wiring harness. Both were fixed under warranty due to Ford knowing of the defects. They told me it was a "No contact recall"

Ask your friend what kind of fuel mileage he gets?

Then find a friend with a gasser and ask what kind of fuel mileage they get?

Only using the info you offered, that truck would be $70K new? So it has depreciated $52K. In 8 years. That's $6,500 per year. That's $18 per day. Ouch.

You'll get much better financial return from it than he did.

A year ago I paid $13K for a 130K mile 2002 F250 7.3L crew cab Texas truck. I got a very nice truck for minimal money.

This deal beats mine by a LOT. I'm not a dually guy but this is an excellent buy.

Not sure if I’m a dually guy either.
Just trying to figure out most feasible option for pulling a camper.

Diesel or gas.

Do yourself a favor and get a 5th wheel camper and not the worst towing invention ever made a bumper pull camper. It’s not often I advocate for less towing capabilities but a 2500 or 3500srw is plenty capable of towing a 10k 5th wheel. A dually tows better no doubt but it’s not needed for occasional and pretty light at that towing.

Diesel or gas?

I pull a ~10k bumper pull 32' TT...Pulled it with 6.2 & 5.3 gas 1500's and have a 2019 2500 diesel now. No comparison towing with a diesel in my opinion. The 6.2 gasser wasn't bad, but doesn't compare to the diesel. My opinion anyway.
