2012 John Deere 5055e loss of power blowing white smoke

Hello hotchkiss, I have had the white smoke part of your symptoms, but without loss of power. The problem was a blown head gasket leting water into the cylinder causing white smoke. The engine was kept running and the job finished. I then drove home ,dropped the loader and parked in the shed ready for the mechanic. The tractor is a JD6920 with about 7000 hours.
The problem was confirmed as a leaking head gasket, and any attempt to start would have "hydrauliced" (expensive damage) the engine.
Get a mechanic pronto, espesially if you may be still in warrenty.
A turbo or head gasket failure is serious and only gets more expensive if left.

There was no temp change when the head gasket failed.

possible waterpump seal faulty and tiny leaking/seaping into block when very hot (warpage??). Pull water pump and look for telltale signs at sealing surface. or IDK.

May I ask how a leaking water pump seal on this engine could possibly cause white smoke out the muffler?

Did some genius pour gasoline into a diesel fuel tank ?

Compression check is #1 procedure and while you are doing that, send oil sample to Blackstone Lab for analysis. They will detect even minute amounts of coolant in the lube oil, analyze metals there too and offer suggestions if a particular metal is present in elevated amounts. Both procedures are inexpensive and will put many issues to bed.

Analysis of engine oil will take you from maybe and not really to "that's it". Not a bad deal for $19.
