I’m thinking of disassembling my ball joints to replace the boot seals. Mine do not have castle nuts with cotter pins. Just a regular nut. They are not loose however. Is this odd? Seems to me most ball joints have holes through the stud, a castle nut and cotter pin? I assume just torque to spec? Anyone know the torque spec on this joint? Thanks

I found the boot seals on the wheel ball joint cracked. When I went by the dealer to get the part numbers, the guy referred to this as “the yoke”. I would have called it the steering spindle. I don’t have much experience working on tractors. In any event I am referring to the boot seal on the vertical threaded stud. It has a large nut underneath. And mine don’t have castle nuts or cotter pins. In the attached picture it is the nut underneath the joint marked with black circle. This is a new 5075e at dealer, not my tractor. But the joint looks the same. Is it abnormal that my 2013 5065e does not have a castle nut with cotter pin? And what is the torque value on the nut? Thanks

Yes, parts refers to tie rod assembly with yoke. No castle nut.

As tight as your impact wrench will get it.

Tight, don't think you can break it, but don't think it will work loose, or a huge problem if it does.. just tighten it again. ;)
