Thanks for the reply jbain. You have made my point. If your 5065 is the same as my 5075 there is enough room between the hold down rods to get the group 31 in there but the angle bracket needs to be 1.5 inches longer. Simple fix. Thanks.

My 2012 5085M is still on the original battery. Never had an issue until a few weeks ago when it was about 20 degrees out and I had to jump start it. I put a slow charger on it after that, and now it seems to be fine again. Tractor does sit sometimes for 1+ month. Real test will be next time it if well below freezing I suppose. Also, I did drain it all the way down once when it was only about 2 month old due to me not wiring a switch for the loader suspension correctly. So all in all, I'd say I've gotten my money's worth out of the OEM battery and will probably pick up another one just like it ($160 at the dealer) once it finally quits on me, which I hope won't be until next winter.

I have installed the group 31 battery this weekend no problem. Made a bracket that goes the length of the battery with tabs on each end. Found 2 pieces of rod with thread on one end mushroomed the none threaded end. Stuck the rods down through the bracket holes and original bolt holes on each end of the battery and lock nuts and done. The tractor turns over much better with 950 CCA at 0F. I was reading the manual and it says that the battery has 800 CCA at 0F but the battery that comes on the tractor is only 640 CCA at 0F. I'll take a photo of the install and try to post it in the next couple days.
