Priced out a XLT model (5.0 engine)with the options I wanted and list was $47,820,YIKES.I guess I will hold on to my 2006 ford super crew with 79,000 miles on the OD.Love to have one just can,t afford it.After looking at prices one would think a 3/4 pickup is darn close price wise to purchase verses the 1/2 ton models.

Yeah half ton truck prices have gone crazy. I ordered a Ram 5500 4x4, 6.7 cummins, Aisin trans, power door locks, power windows, cloth seats, cruise control, backup camera and much more that I could list and paid just over 47k OTD.

Thats a lot of truck for that money. With 4x4 you could put a 10' plow on it and be the parking lot king.

$47k, while sickening, is about right for that truck. These half-tons are cash cows for the automakers, and they know it.

Yeah it is. I have a 16' box on it we install equipment and batteries and such with it. I know there are a lot of people that don't need more than a half ton but I usually skip the half tons now because you can get a 3/4 or a 1 ton for very close to the same money as a half ton. To each their own though that's why we have so many options everyone is different and has different needs.

There are a number of complaints about the ecoboost engines spewing exhaust fumes into the cabin on Explorer and other models for the 12 thru 14 model years. Hopefully they have solved that problem.

I like the gauge cluster display and I hope its more configurable than either of my 2012 trucks. I'd like to be able to select from a list what information is shown instead of being limited to no choices, take the trans and oil temps and too bad if you don't like it. No reason why this screen can't offer choices from a long list. When I plug in my OBDII Bluetooth connector I can see everything on my smartphone, you should have the same range of choices built in to the truck.

Back in April I bought 2014 F250 Supercab XLT gasser. MSRP on window sticker was $41,070. Only options were chrome tubular cab steps, shift on the fly 4WD, snow plow package and roof clearance lights. Don't really need the plow package but that's how the truck sat on the lot. It was only an $85 option so there can't be much to it.
Pretty much everything I want in a truck comes with the XLT package. There couldn't possibly be enough bells & whistles for me to go back to a 150 for almost $7k more.

I agree.I bought a 2011 F250 Lariat 4X4 super crew cab with a 6.2 gasser and it stickered for $51,000 My out the door price with the X plan and rebates was $44,600.I sold it back in 2013 as I had a company truck and it did not get used much.

For the prices I saw when I was looking in 2012 I ended up getting a diesel ¾ ton for just a bit more than a ½ ton. Can't say I have ever regretted that decision!
