flusher,
WE have a few holes to dig now, but the wife wants a garden, and we will have a rather large area of landscaping. Also within a year, we will need a tractor that can move a small plane in and out of a hangar.
I know that the backhoe is one of those things that is really a lot of money for something that probably wont get used. But I have learned before if I don't get something now, I will be kicking myself in the butt the day that I need it.
I think a BH is a big expense. Right now I have 11 LARGE trees that have been cut down and need to sawed up. So I know that the BH will help to move them around to help get them cut. BTW, I got a quote for bigging the holes for the trees- 2,100 dollars! YEP, that 's right! Gotta love fuel charges in the DFW area.

I looked a kubota's and I really like them. But the wife's family is in the dairy business, and they have all told me to stay away from them as well as JD series- LOTS of plastics, and a lot of things fall off due to vibrations. The father in law says- spend the extra money and you will be very pleased! That is what I was told. So Kubota was pulled, and besides the Kubota dealer in the area wasn't all that friendly to someone that doesn't know tractors either.
I know that I wont be using it like a farmer would, I just want to make sure that I am buying something that is going to last me 20+ years! I don't have a problem spending the extra bucks, as long as I have something that will last, and won't be a hangar queen.

Your Wife's family may know a great deal about dairy farming, but it's rather obvious they know little about modern small kubota tractors. For the work you intend to do, if it were possible to have at your disposal all the tractors you and others have mentioned to use when ever you want. I can promise you, the kubota BX would quickly become your tractor of choice. go look at all of them, over and over again. Learn all you can about the advantages of the HST transmssions for use as you intend. Choose the one that's best for you as a tractor, not by how you fee about the person selling it.

crash,
I am going to do that! It is a LOT of money that we are putting down, so yes, I am going to review things very carefully.
Achingback- I don't want to get too political- but I know I am going to invest in thing. especially if we all know who will be in office- tax breaks? what tax breaks!
Hopefully- someday I will good enough to charge a PREMIUM for backhoe work and then pay even more taxes that before! YES!

I have truly enjoy the comments on this post. I know the pride of brand comes out- I have read enough here to understand what matters the most in the industry (as well as others) is customer service- and ultimately it comes down the brand (dealer) that helps me understand my tractor and is willing to provide customer service- especially for the price that I pay for the tractor.

Well, since I never mentiond tax breaks , I'm confused why you mentioned them. I do stand by what I said about stuff, (material goods). Things such as tractors are a better investment of capital, than say a savings account that pays 1% interest, for example.

My Kubota B7510HST had a plastic front grill that sometimes vibrated loose, but it was no real problem.

If you want all-metal construction, check out Mahindra. I have a Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto, 2WD, gear tranny) that's all metal construction (except for the seat cushions and floor mat). I think Mahindra's smaller 20-30 hp tractors have this feature also.

aching back,
I kew what you meant, just the brain wasn't working all that great at the time I was writting the reply. Happens when I fly through 8+ times zones in a day! I get what you mean!
I am truely pumped with getting the tractor. Tomorrow I am going drive around town and check out the competition before I pull the trigger on the Mahindra.
Thanks again for the honesty of the replies. People like me that know very little get the chance to play with the big boys!

Take care and will keep you posted.

I would have to respectfully disagree. Dealer support is just as important as the quality of the product itself.

I will ask about the subframe mount- I dunno.
I was told from the dealer that the Bush Hog was just as good as the Mahindra BH, and about 500 dollars cheaper and would be about 4 months for the Mahindra BH too. I will ask about the warranty coverage and financing.
Many thanks for the head's up on these issues. When I get an answer- I will post.

My Bradco 511 backhoe was delivered to my dealer in a little over 3 weeks after ordering my 6520.:) It sat there for another 5 weeks while a certain loader from Kansas :rolleyes:caught up with the tractor! But the wait was well worth it.:D
I am extremly glad I bought a backhoe that Mahindra stands behind. Whatever backhoe you buy, you won't regret it.
hugs, Brandi
