2016 superduty up to 18 weeks to order one?

Our dealer was unable to locate an F350 with our configuration (supercab, longbed, Lariat, specific options including color, etc.) so we ordered a 2016 during 2nd week of June. Received 8 weeks later. We missed the cut-off for 2015 trucks by a couple of weeks, and there was a small price increase for 2016. If we hadn't spent so much time hunting around the country for a truck that was already built, and I hadn't dragged my feet over a few details, maybe I would have ordered before the cut-off.

I took the one the dealer had. They gave me some extra stuff to sweeten the deal. 2015 F350 CREW CAB LONGBED platinum with the 6.7. I have always had crew short beds, So I figured I would try the long bed out. So far I like it and its only a little over foot half longer then the 6foot.

I have used cars.com and the Ford inventory site Search Inventory - 2016 Super Duty
to check on trucks. On the Ford site, click on "Search Dealer Inventory" and then the "Extended Inventory" tab.
You can look for F-150, 250, 350, etc. by using the filters to see what is out there. You can view the window sticker, which is a nice feature. I have it saved as model 2014,
but just change the year to 2015, 2016, (2017 next September) to get current inventory.

I just ordered a 3500 Savanna extended van for the place where I work, (not for me but I order machinery) won't arrive 'till February. I ordered a CAT Backhoe, going to take at least 5 months+. forklift going to take at least 3 maybe 4 months so you're not far off....Mike

I remember the day when the 8' bed was normal. The way you're talking about it, you'd think it was a novelty!! It kind of is nowadays. I see so many crew cabs running around with the short bed, and it just looks borderline useless to me, kind of like an SUV with a tailgate....

I got the 6.5' bed with my crew cab, since it was the longest available bed in that half-ton model at the time. It's been pretty good so far. But I would have gone with the 8' bed if it was available. That's what I grew up with and to me it's what a normal pickup truck should have.

There's not a single truck from Ford or Ram in the entire country that fits my requirements. I looked into building one back in November, but got so pissed off at the dealers and stupid BS standard "safety" items and electronic gizmos that come on new vehicles now, that I gave up.

I just got a F350 Platinum a couple months ago. I got a white one with what I would call saddle interior ( (Brownish looks like King Ranch color ) it was the only one in a 750 mile radius. There were plenty of them with black or pecan but I'm glad I got the one I wanted.

Pecan was what I wanted but Im okay with black. I needed the truck and figured the only difference was the seat. The rest of the interior was still black. Since I have my truck the seats looks more like a blackish grey. They where going to try and locate me one, Mite sound crazy but every truck i had them locate me was a lemon. Crazy but true.

My buddy at the local Frod dealer tells me the reason for the delay is a shortage of rear axles.
