I have an Extang soft tri-fold on my F150, and have been very happy with it. Simple to use or R&R, pretty water tight other than the car wash, where a little water comes in near the tailgate. I've used it on two trucks, going on 5 years now, and it's held up very well. Truck sits out 24/7 also.

Folks, we just got back from a little trip to northern MN and put, maybe 700 miles on this truck. It does indeed have "lane assist" which my spouse figured out on the drive up. It was turned off so the person who ferried the truck from another dealer must have did that. So we got it tuned back on and set it for "max help" just to see how it worked. We'd not driven a vehicle with this feature before and from the comments here, thought we might not like it. As far as we could tell, there is no sound for its activation and no vibration in the steering wheel but instead, when you get close the the center-line, or the roads edge line, it gently steers the wheel back onto the road. Dang, it works nice! And we'll leave it on the max setting.

Fuel mileage. We did check the on-board computer against our math. For the 1st tank it claimed we got 21. something while our math said it was 22. something. This was mostly city driving. On the way home while doing mostly highway speeds, we got about 24. While doing 65-70 MPH the on-board computer mileage was floating in the 23-25 area. Gee whiz, this is better than we had expected.

Hope that helps.

I’m still looking but found a color I like. IMG_3178.JPG

I'll ask if and how to make the steering wheel vibrate with lane assist.

I'm also looking at a pick up to replace one of the SUV's For those trips to Home Depot etc. The Honda Ridgeline has caught my eye. I know its really a cross over mix but it might get my wife attention better than a say F150. Anyone with comments plus our minus on the Ridgeline. The all wheel version is listed at 5000 lbs towing which will serve my needs.

I think the Ridgeline exceeds the Ford in a few areas. The bed and the back seat. But the Ford exceeds in the Ridgeline in the motor and transmission and safety technology. I don't know why Ford would still has a metal bed that must be sprayed with a liner or add a liner insert. I did not drive the Ridgeline so I can't compare that. Ridgeline was offering better end of year deals- around 5-6K off list, but they had a low inventory.

If you want a truck that drives like a car or SUV, the Ridgeline is your best choice. Very un-truck-like driving dynamics, with light truck capability. I had three first gen. Ridgelines, and liked them a lot. But our family needs outgrew them, so I moved up to an F150. I would at least do a thorough test drive on any mid-size PU you are considering, as they all have distinct differences that are worth exploring. Probably no bad choices, just better ones.

Good points I have briefly driven an F 150 and was impressed with the quietness and the brakes. A little lag in initial power with the 5 later V8. I drove a Ridgeline yesterday and was impressed with its pickup, the overall fit and finish, the dual tailgate and the lockable storage. The fold up rear seats are also a plus. That said the big question is the driver seat. It seemed short from butt to knee and did not feel like I was getting upper leg support and thus putting tension on my low back. Now that said, I have to caveat that I have a significant back issue with many damaged and missing discs ( too many g forces for too many years on the spine) and thus I am more critical of seats than most. I find I compare all seats to the ones in our Cayenne. Im going to give the Ridgeline another test and also do a more indepth test in the F150. I've had Toyota both Tundras and Tacomas as well as Nissans and while they run forever I have marked them off. Biggest reason is the Toyotas are in need of a moderation upgrade and I don't need a " high rise" truck not going off road at my age just want something to go to Home depot etc and as a back up traveler.

Indeed, one of the reasons we moved out of the Ridgeline....interior was too small, plus the fact that the newest Ridgeline was yet a bit smaller inside than the one it replaced.

Check out one of the Ecoboost F150's. They are crazy quick for a 5K# truck. I have the 2.7EB/10AT powertrain, and it is nothing short of amazing. Averaging 24mpg this summer, and will run a mid-5 sec 0-60 when you need it to. Having experienced this truck, I would never go back to a smaller one. Probably the best overall vehicle I've had in my 40+ years of driving. :)
