2020 Superduty

I have had one 6.2 and four 6.7s. No comparison in my mind. If I get a truck bigger than a half ton it is going to have a diesel. I have a gas half ton and love it. But for a heavier truck pulling trailers a diesel is the way to go in my mind. Will the gasser do it? Yes it will but the diesel does so much better.

The 7.3 is interesting but I will stick to the diesels.

Same here. Especially in the mountains diesel is the king.

GasBuddy is showing diesel forty cents higher than regular gas in Vanderbilt. Downstate and in the thumb, diesel is higher in the winter due to home heating oil, in the summer, diesel runs typically the same and lower than regular gasoline. As volatile as the fuel prices are, its impossible to use gas/diesel pricing as a justification. As an example, your area has a .40 cents difference between diesel and gas, right now in my area (SE Michigan), the delta is .78 cents, almost twice as much.

I also see the comment made often in these gas versus diesel debates, the higher cost of and more frequent maintenance required for a diesel. I own both and while the diesel is right around $200 (fuel filters) more in yearly maintenance costs, the frequency is half of my gasser (two to one oil changes). What am I missing?

You can wrap your mind around lots of reasons to buy what you ' want to buy ', goes for trucks, tractors, and finding a mate. Gas has went up a little here, and diesel has come down a little .. now sitting at 45 cents more a gallon. Most of this winter it has been up around a dollar or more. Diesel used to wander around the price of gas, sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive. Not anymore.... Sure glad I moved out of Oakland County, up here into God's country.... :)

Ordered my '19 F350 in September and received in early November. I drove both gas and diesel to determine what was 'best' for me. Drove nearly identical trucks otherwise. Same test drive route. Country roads. 2 lane. Interstate. No comparison. I went for the diesel (instant decision like Cat_driver). The HP and torque differences were very noticeable, as it should be just looking at the numbers. I came from having an F250 460. Coming from an 8-10mpg truck to the diesel I've more than doubled my average mileage. On the highway, the mpg says 24. Hard to argue. I don't think they're getting that with the gas model. Comparing fuel costs to upgrade costs at the summer before buying I had to drive 110k to break even. Gas and diesel were the same cost then. Diesel is up now. I suppose that's due to winter fuel vs. summer fuel. I keep my vehicles forever so the decision was a no brainer for me. Hopefully, the maintenance or breakdowns won't kill my wallet. But that's possible on either powertrain I suppose.

The biggest upgrade to the 20 model in my opinion is the 10 speed trans. It's a beefed up version of the one in the F-150 and it's the reason I've waited on buying a 350.
