Kioti DS4510HS, Exmark Laser Z, Kioti LB1914
I went to my three closest dealers (JD, Mahindra, Kioti) and told them I could pay max $20K cash for a machine and that I wanted the most tractor / loader I could get for that price. The three tractors I was shown were as follows:

Kioti DS4510HS - a 45 hp gear tractor with hyraulic shuttle and 2700 pound full lift at pin ($19.5K with rear remote)
Mahindra 4110 - a 41 hp gear tractor with 2000 pound full lift at pin ($20.5K don't remember if it had rear remote)
John Deere 2520 - a 26 hp hydro tractor with 900 pound full lift at pin ($19.5K with rear remote)

The Mahindra and Kioti are not too different in terms of capability. Obviously the Kioti is a little more for the money. However, I don't consider the Deere to be even half the tractor that the Kioti is! I realize it is hydrostatic but really how can the JD's cost so much!

I know some will say i need to compare the Kioti DS4510HS to a JD 4000 series. Well, that 4000 series was twice the price of the Kioti so not a consideration at all.

In the end I bought the Kioti. It wasn't much of a decission. I've had a Kioti LB1914 for 8 years and have been extremely please. One broken part that was shipped to me in 2 days. I was just blown away by the price of the John Deere tractors. Shame because the dealer is walking distance from my house. The 5000 series seem to be a good value and I priced at 5055E with power reverser at $32K. Nice tractor, but more than I wanted to spend and couldn't justify the additional funds over the Kioti. Are JD's this expensive everywhere or is this just my dealer?

Maybe it is irrelevant, but it has been years and years since Mahindra sold the 4110 model. Maybe you mean 4010, but that is 38HP. In any event, it sounds like you have a good history with Kioti and it makes sense to buy another. That is a lot of tractor for under $20k.

I could have purchased a hydro shuttle gear tractor in the 80-90hp range that was nearly twice as heavy for the price of the 60ish hp CUT HST tractor. The HST costs much more and these days is computer controlled.

I had the same basic this happen this fall when i bought a new Kioti. The JD was $15 grand more than my Kioti. Nuts, I don't know how JD keeps selling them?? The Kubota was very close in price, which surprised me, I thought Kubota they would be about the same price as a John Deere

Yes - You're right. The Mahindra was the 4010 model and it is 38 hp. Sorry for the foggy memory. That was the first one I looked at. I looked at the Kioti second and it seemed like a nice step up for less money so I kind of forgot about the Mahindra (including the model number). It was about a month in between. I went to the JD dealer last because I suspected they would be the most expensive and didn't want them talking me into anything before I looked at other tractors. I've always wanted a JD and I thought it would be so convenient with the dealer less than a mile away. The other thing was that the Kioti sales person knew his stuff and made me feel like he wanted my business. Neither of the others did much to make me think they wanted my business.

I was surprised the JD dealer showed me a small hydro rather than a larger gear tractor. I don't even know if they have any 3000 or 4000 series gear tractors that are competitively priced? I really would hvae liked to look at MF. But there are no dealers close to me. I like MF's transmission options. They have a gear tractor with clutchless shifting (not just a power reverser). I think that would be ideal but probably pricey.

Are you sure the DS4510 had a hydraulic shuttle? I'm pretty sure that the DS series is a straight gear shuttle, not with a hydraulic reverser.

You are right that out of those 3 the Kioti is definitely giving you the most for your money. Do you have an LS dealer near you? If you do, you could probably get a 46 horse XR4046 with shuttle for around that same price, and you would have more features.

Actually I think that is what the HS at the end stands for (DS4510HS). Hydraulic shuttle.
I am still not sure why a hydraulic shuttle was available for some DS series tractors and not the DK series
