2140 john deere

Hello everyone i am new to this forum.
Looking for some help working on a 2140 X-E SERIES.
There is oil leak from the shaft that goes through the rear housing for the lift arms my question is can this shaft be pull out to put in a seal or is there something on the inside of it?
Has anyone any manual, diagram or picture would be much appecated.

Have you looked at jdparts? Need to register, but it is free. Lots of good information there when looking at the parts breakdowns, and part numbers.

Here is a pic of a breakdown of the rockshaft and lift arms. Don't see any seals so am wondering if this includes what you are asking about.

But it is the bottom shaft .the one the arm come of.

Bottom shaft is the torsion bar and these seals are a frequent problem with JD's

I'm curious now, as there is no torsion bar listed in jdparts for the 2140.
Do you by chance have a breakdown of its location and part number? thanks

The shaft he is referring to is a torsion bar that will bow ever so slightly in propertion to the draft load. It does have a lever attached to it that adjusted the hitch valve, this is part of the load and depth control feature. Seems like all of these leak a little that I have seen.

No, it does not come out easily, it is attached in the middle of the shaft.

I was wrong about the pall being connected to the shaft, it only contacts the shaft when flexing. I would think you can change the seals on the ends if you are willing to drain the case.

Thanks for pinpointing the location of this shaft.
Might also change out the 0-rings. Looks fairly easy to do.
