2155 Front Drive Shaft and LH / RH Lift LInks

Hello. I have a FWD 2155 which I recently purchased with a missing front drive shaft and bent RH/LH lift links. These parts are obsolete per JD. I'm looking calling salvage yards no luck yet. So It may be time to fabricate. Was curious if someone knew the dimensions or source to purchase the yoke flange to the drive axle and the the yoke spline fitting. If I can buy these I will use square tube to make a slip drive shaft. Curious if anyone knew off hand the dimension / specs of the Lift Link thread. I may have to fabricate a new lift link for the lefthand from scratch, but..I'm thinking someone has resolved this for their older tractor.
Appreciate your help. I'm in Alaska which makes getting local parts a challenge. Thank you, Ken

Here's a 2155 MFWD driveshaft available from JD. this may just be the CV coupling not the complete shaft .Abilene Machinery might have new aftermarket lift links Green Parts shows to have complete frt drive shaft.

No need to make a slip/sliding drive shaft. The splined end slides into the trans and flanged end bolts to front axle. JD parts show two P/Ns and two lengths,
AL69718 37.80" and AL69581 41.73" Length of part 5 is 30.20 or 34.13 depending on serial number Shorter is used serial number 718349 and down, longer is used serial number 718350 and up.


The trans end yoke has two P/Ns AL34711 for serial numbers up to 718349 $140 and P/N AL69583 NLA for serial numbers 718350 and up.

Thank you Beenthere and TXJim. Your input is helpful. I did call my local JD parts rep, and on the Yoke is available. Flange and either shaft is obsolete. I called greentractor and others sources that listed the part and was informed of zero qty.
Jim, with my JD log in, I cannot pull up the parts spec for the flange nor the yoke. If you have the time, could you provide. It would help in sourcing the flange or having one machined. I am ordering the only part available other then ujoints, the yoke. Again Thank you very much, Ken

Thank you Zerbrafive. Your keen observation was helpful that the slip occurs on the transmission yoke, that simplifies the project. I am ordering the yoke today. The front flange is obsolete per JD rep and I called around. I called salvage yards too, and was told those machines were long picked clean. So..I need to blueprint as best I can with a micrometer and then see if a manufacture makes a suitable flange or have one machined at my friends shop. If you know the specs or can pull from JD. My login will not pull up the part spec as the part in obsolete. I'm either doing it wrong on my JD profile is limited. Appreciate your time and input. Ken

Update. I found a vintage parts suppliers however the have the Newer sn longer driveshaft AL69581. Would anyone know if the flange/yoke are the same. The part numbers are different for the flange/yoke but I cannot pull out the specs from the JD website. If the flange/yoke are suitable I can shorten the shaft and call it good. To my knowledge if part comes up NLA on JD parts then spec's are not available.

I am NOT able to get specs for NLA parts. But since there is only one P/N listed for the hub, key 5, on the front axle the flange bolts to, my guess is the bolt pattern is the same for both, maybe the cross/U-joint changed (width or cap diameter, or both)


I would grab this DS you found and see if you need to shorten the center section and possibly change the trans yoke to the one you ordered. I wonder why the less than 4" difference in shaft length? maybe they lengthened the DS and shortened the yoke, older verses newer P/Ns? You might find that is the case and the newer S/N DS will be a bolt in???
