2160 Cub cuts out after 45min

A friend has a 5 year old cub 2160 mower that runs fine for about 45 minutes and then starts sputtering and eventually quits. After cooling for about and hour you can mow for another 45 minutes. Have had it to the mechanic and the points, plugs, fuel filter, and coil have been replaced. Please help.

Maybe clogged fuel cap vent. Next time it quits loosen cap and see if it sucks air into the tank.

I don't think those things have POINTS.. Next time it quits check spark-- If spark, give it a little shot of starting fluid or a lil gas in the carb and try it to determine your problem..

ditto those comments. And - as it's an older machine - would pull the engine shroud sheet metal, clean the fins well & closely inspect revealed wiring insulation.

Sorry reply took so long, but I have been given the tractor to try to determine the problem. I checked the fuel cap and it vents fine.
The tractor does it on any terrain but if it starts and you turn the mower off it wil idle normally. If the pot is re-engaged it will start sputtering again.
I will need to investigate the wiring possibility.
