I have a AGS2160 that is leaking drive fluid out of the rear breather tube when I am mowing.Any ideas what would cause this? The fluid level is normal.

Thanks,John

Did this happen out of the blue or after a servicing, trans oil change, etc?? Your auto-gear transaxle (the "AG" part in AGS2160) is an odd duck. I have no idea how they work. I know they hold oil, have replaceable clutch packs and have the spin-on oil filter, but they are not hydrostatic or 'hydraulic' in any way that I know of. They must have some type of gearotor pump in them however to circulate the oil through the filter. If you just did an oil/filter change on it, I'd guess it's overfull. It's a good idea to add the exact same amount you dump out.

Can't help the original poster, but the AGS transaxle doesn't have a spin-on filter, at least mine doesn't (early serial number).

Thanks guys, but the problem was that the original dipstick was made too short so the transaxel was acutually over full. The replacement dipstick is about 1/2" longer.(but ofcourse this replacement is on backorder)
