There is a trick to shooting good groups with a pistol. The most effective method is to place the target at about 10 feet away, which is about as close as you can place it without getting unburned powder particles on the target. Shoot the best group you can, and then label the target "25 yards rapid fire" It works for me . :D

I gotta remember that!!!

I'm one of those "can't hit the broad side of a barn" shooters...well, I was...but once I started shooting from the inside of the barn, I had no problems hitting the broad side

What is that other old "barnyard saying" about shooting?
"He couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a handful of shelled corn"

I have shot some pretty fair groups with a pistol, but I believe it is more important to be able to place your shots where they need to be as rapidly from the holster draw as possible under stress and be able to do it on demand. Pistols for the most part are defensive weapons that allow you to repel an attacker and end the fight right there and then, or if this is not possible, it allows you to continue the fight until you can get to your rifle or combat shotgun.

I just picked up my father's day gift, Academy had a deal, but a Taurus PT111 G2 and get a free Heritage .22 LR revolver. the revolver is a single action, 6 shot, with interchangeable .22 LR and .22 WRM cylinders, but only comes with .22 LR. For the record, I'm seeing happy things with ammo in general past 3 months. Lower prices, and more of it. Anyways, the .22 is about a 7 yard gun, sights are non adjustable, and a bit off, but let's face it, it's a 'toy'. The PT111 fits awesome in my hand for a compact 9mm. Trigger is not stuff, BUT it's so LONG you thing you got a miss fire you've pulled it so far back. Will take a bit of time to get used too.

Academy also had 'Blazer Brass 9mm 115gr FMJ' for $9.99/50. I bought two boxes, but nearly every round the actual projectile was dings, dents, scratches, and lots of the brass looks tarnished, and some projectiles look like they were not seated straight. Not sure I really plan on buying more of that again
I highly recommend the using AmmoSeek.com... then you can specify new brass, and/or a bunch of other filters before it routes you to an online store to buy.
