What's to miss? The Ruger 10/22 comes with a rotarty 10 shot clip. I switched mine out for a 50 round banana clip.

I also have an adjustable bedding kit on the way. One of the first of its kind where I will be able to adjust tension points between the stock and barrel with an inch pound screw driver. I will be able to dial in any ammo of choice. Did I mention they are addictive.

Doesn't Browning make their .22 auto any more? It was bottom eject and to me anyway, made the 10-22 feel like a club in comparison.

Seems like most people like the 10-22 but I always liked the Browning or the Nylon 66.

For non-auto's, hard to beat a Winchester 61 or a Marlin 39 or any of the fine bolt action .22's.

I bought my first gun, a 10/22, from a pawn shop with my first paycheck at age 16. It was an old gun but unknown amount of rounds through it. I've fed 1000s and 1000s through it. I wore out one 30 round clip (I prefer shooting bats at night) and couldn't afford to buy another until the gun laws changed again a few years ago when they again became cheap. You could buy them all along at cheaperthandirt.com. Yes I love the 10/22. I even passed on the tradition to my daughter at 3 YO who loves to run through all 10 shots by braille.

My dad has a Marlin 39a he won in some carnival in 1955 (year I was born)
I put a scope on it in the 70's for one of his birthday's. He still takes it out when some varmit gets into his vegtable garden.

Reading this post makes me wanna get him to take it out and let me look at it again..don't have a 22 now just a mossberg 20 g. and a crossman pellet rifle to shoo the squirrels away from the bird feeders.

One is a Winchester Model 1906 pump that I inherited from an aunt; don't know when or where she got it, but at least one place on the Internet says its serial number was made in 1907. The other is The Sportmaster Remington Model 341, bolt action, that I inherited from my Dad. They were only made from 1936 to 1940. I was born in 1940 and know that my Dad was hunting squirrels and rabbits with this gun in 1945; not sure just when he got it.

Got one of them myself. It was left behind in a rental house that my Mother in Law was moving into. That and an Iver Johnson Owl's Head .38 S&W (not .38 Special). She didn't want them so I end up with them.

Bird, what's the internet site where you can inquire about serial no's?

The site where I found a date of manufacture for the Winchester is this one, and I have no idea how accurate it is.
