I have a 2210 with about 80 hours on it now. All required service was performed at 50 hours by myself. I have noticed that both the 3pt hitch and the loader seem to leak down or creep down rather quickly lately. What is considered normal. I can keep balast on the 3 pt up by closing the drop rate valve all of the way and then the hitch will stay up. The loader drops a couple of inches in a few minutes as will the 3 pt if not locked. I just want to know if I have a sevice issue that should be dealt with under warranty.

What you describe is what I have experienced with my late 2210 and my current 4110. If you think it is dropping unreasonably (dangerously) fast, or if it never leaked down before, you should probably check with your dealer. I guess what I am trying to say is that a slow leak down seems "normal" up to a point.

I'd say you have a service/warranty issue. Have them look at it.

My 4010 with 410 loader leaks down a little bit, hardly a problem. The 3 pt stays rock solid where I put it.

Ralph, your 4010 is the only small-frame CUT from JD that I have ever heard of that doesn't leak down from the 3PH. Amazing! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ray, the higher the RPMs, the slower the leak; the greater the load, the faster the drop. Shut it off, and everything will drop slowly. Every small-frame JD CUT will leak down slightly on the 3PH under load unless you close off or slow down the drop rate valve (even Ralph's /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). When transporting a full load of rocks, etc., in the bucket, it may be necessary to tweak the joy stick occasionally to keep the curl or boom lift right where you want it.

Are you leaking fluid from any cylinder seals? Hydro creeping in neutral? Are you using hydro fluid that is up to weight specs?

Thanks for the responses guys. I am using the low vis fluid as per the manual and the dealer. No external leaks of any kind all is clean and dry. The hydro tranny is rock solid, no creep at all. I do think that since I changed the fluid and it's warmer out that tractor isn't quite as fast as it was during the winter but that could just be my imagination.

Ray--this is one of those issues that is hard to find out what is "normal" from a discussion board. If you had a couple of TBNers standing in your yard drinking cold beverages watching you work, you would probably get a straight answer. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Just for comparison, if I load up my 4110 with 53" bucket with a full load of topsoil, drive to a location, lower it to 6" off the ground, drop the throttle to idle, get off and rake something around for 5-10 minutes, my bucket will likely be on or nearly on the ground under the full load by the time I get back to the tractor. My curl seems to leak down a little faster than my lift. I can't actually see it drop, but it does. My 2210 did the same thing. My brother's long-gone 855 did also. If I shut off my tractor with a 400# box blade on the tail and I have not locked off the drop rate valve, it will drop an inch or two in 15-20 minutes. These are just estimates.

That doesn't sound alot different than mine so I guess it's probably normal. You're welcome to come up and observe for yourself and bring a few other members. I'll supply the beer (real beer, Canadian stuff ya know) it can't be more than a couple of thousand mile drive /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It is always worth mentioning to your dealer just in case it gets worse. You might devise some sort of standard test--like the full bucket leak down time from 6"--to see whether it stays the same over the next few months.

Make mine a Labatts Blue, please. I will be in Red Lake, Ontario later this summer but I think I would still have a bit of travel left, at that. I think I'd rather slay a few pike and walleye over watching your leak down problem. Nothing personal, of course!

I had a thought about this this weekend. I noticed that if I pick the front wheels of the tractor all of the way up with the loader it will settle down to the ground again in less than two minutes. I figure this is an easy comparison that anybody with a 2210 and a FEL could use. Do me favour everybody with a 2210 and a FEL and tell me how long yours take to settle out when the wheels are lifted with the FEL.
