2210 50 hour service

Yes, I'm being real lazy with this plea but I know I can count on the fine folk here for some help. I want to pick up the supplies for the 50 hour service on my 2210 but I don't have my manual at the moment. Can someone provide me with the basic rundown of what I'll need from the dealer?

Sure, just did mine. You will need the engine oil filter and oil, the trans oil filter and oil.

3.4 gallons of hydro fluid if I remember correctly. The book recomends the low viscosity fluid, but also states that you can use either one. I got a five gallon bucket, and a push pull hand pump to do the fill. 2.2 qts of engine oil (though mine always reads full after 2 qts., even after running).

Just to update everyone on my 50 hour service... I did get it done but it took a bit longer than I anticipated. I knew from other postings that the hydro suction screen would be a bear but my biggest challenge was the engine oil filter. I admit that I didn't have the best tools to start with but that filter was really on there. I ended up getting an adjustable filter wrench from Sears to get it off. Worked like a charm on both filters.

I must have spent well over an hour on the hydro suction screen assembly. That setup is a nightmare. I thought I would never get that screen out, but eventually I did. Good thing too because there was a bit of metal in the screen. It's all clean now though.

Also, I too only put 2 quarts of engine oil in and it reads full.

I'm gonna guess that you missed the earlier post on removing the screen. There is an easier way. If you follow the suction tube up to the left side of the trans you find a flange where it attaches back to the tranny with 3 bolts. You can get to it by reaching just above and slightly forward of the left rear wheel/tire. By removing the bolts that attach the flange it is infinitely easier to remove the short hose and the then the suction cap. It might even be possible to remove the cap without removing the hose, but I haven't tried this. Maybe next time.

I have been using a strap wrench to remove the oil filter, but eventually I am going to find the right size filter socket that fits it. You can usually find these at auto parts stores in a variety of sizes.

I can never get the 2.2 qts in the motor either. Even after running the engine, the dip stick will read full after 2 qts.

Is there a gasket under this flange or only an 0-ring? Any possibility that repeatedly removing this flange and replacing it will lead to a hydraulic oil leak? If not I'll have to try your trick next time.

It certainly is a pain removing and replacing the suction tube but I have found removal is made easier by removing the tube from both ends unlike the procedure in the operator's manual that calls for removing the tube from the suction screen end only. I don't see how anyone can get the tube off by removing the clamp from only one end.

Well it's not my trick, I learned it here!

It is a face sealing o-ring joint. The o-ring is held in pretty well, so no real problem there. Repeated assembly or disassembly should not harm the o-ring. Nicking the mating surface or damaging the o-ring (obviously) could cause a leak.

And yes, I too think the owners manual is wrong. You do have to take off both hose clamps to remove the hose section (without unbolting the suction tube). At least that's my opinion. Now if I had it up on a lift that might be a different story, but even most tractor shops don't work that way.

You guys are right....after fighting for about 30 minutes I finally took the second clamp off and worked the hose off both ends. I guess I will have to try taking the tube off next time. I did look at it but wasn't sure if it required a gasket of some that I didn't have. I have 90 hours on mine after 6 weeks. We are building a new log home with a pole barn and I have had a lot of fel work to do. Now I see I have a lot of trenching to do so I am looking into the Woods BH.

I've got 70 hours after almost a year, I I thought I was using the heck out of it. I spent this poast weekend spreading and grading about 20 yards of topsoil, running the chipper around, and digging holes for trees with my PHD.
You're looking to put a backhoe on a 2210? This I gotta see!

i was in sams club last weekend and they were selling trans and hyrdaulic oil for about $20 for 5 gallons .thats much cheaper than the jd oil would this be a the wrong stuff to buy do you think
