That is fix,

The exhaust should not be getting in your face unless it is leaking somewhere below head high.

My 2305 was smoking when starting. Idling it down be shutting off took care of the problem

Gizmo, do you think your timing has slipped? However, you say you still have lots of power... Does it clear up? Or does it only happen when starting and warming up... ?

I think your problem may go away when the engine warms up ( I hope it does) Crank her up & let her run a few min & see if the problem goes away. That's the same exhaust I have on my 3110

I just let mine hammer away at 800 rpms for about 5 minutes before working. I also let it idle before I shut it off. If I have been working her hard say at 2200 rpm I will back her down to 1800 for a minute....then 1500....for a minute....then let her go a couple minutes at say 1000. When I start it cold I normally get on start her up set her at 800 and get off and go do what ever prep work I need to get done. If I have no prep work I will slowly increase idle speed (reverse of how I shut her down). Diesels can't burn alot of fuel until they are warmed up.......you should always idle down after u work them hard so they cool slowly......The other day I stupidly decided I could start her from the ground... don't do it... always get on. I thought she was out of gear but she was not.. I was lucky cuz she did not start but she did lunge forward and if she would have started she could have took off through my barn wall.. Always get on it to start it up......always...

That's precisely the reason they put that clutch safety switch on there.

If I remember correctly, a clutch safety switch will be one of the standard items on a UTDA certified tractor.
