2210 Cab choices?

No drilling. It took me about 4 hours to install minus installing the worklights, electric heater and windshield wiper. I didn't have the right sized hex head wrench for the mounting bolts (lots of them) and didn't want to drive 20 miles to get one...so I ground the edges of the heads to use a wrench. Pain. The drive would have cost about the same time as it cost me to grind the bolts.

You really need 2 people to mount the windshield (heavy) and they recommend 2 people for the roof. I did everything alone except for the windshield (they were right).
It's pretty straight forward and is solid as a rock.

On the fogging issue...yes, the windshield will fog up. I've plowed 4 times in the last 7 days doing 6 driveways for a total of around 6 hours of work. Temps around 20f. I mounted my honda genset on the spreader to run a 800w interior car warmer mounted overhead at a 45 degree angle blowing on the windshield. When I had to sand I took the genset off the spreader (duh) and within 10 minutes the windshield started fogging. So, interior heat is needed. Also, the windshield wiper is a must...especially when it's windy. The snow blows onto the windshield and pretty quick I've got to run the wiper or see nothing. Electric is great but a hand operated one would do as well. I just flick the switch for a couple of seconds and turn it off again.

A cab sure beats turning into a snowman.

Dave and Mountain Man, here are a fews pics i took this morning of the cab. This pic shows the mount to the rops and fenders.

This shows the mount to the floorboards. The left side by the clutch pedal just slips over the the front and you tighten the bolts to pinch it tight to the floorboard.

This pic shows where the windshield support mounts under the hood. This is where there was to be a bolt. Instead there was a hole that I put in a rubber well nut to attach the brace.
Also a close up of the door handle. The handle is spring loaded and just slides on the center support of the door. Not pretty, but usefull.

Here I took a pic of how the plastic top mounts to the frame.
Mountain Man, these bolts run all the way through the plastic top to the outside, this may be a good support for mounting the worklights. The other pic shows how thw door opens and leaves plenty of room to enter the cab. I may try to put some foam in the top of the cab to reduce some of the noise.

Rick - Thanks for taking the time for the detailed pixs. I agree the top looks just fine to mount the lights. I've ordered one from OTC (on clearance!) since they're closing out manufacturing of the cab for the pre-2002 JD 790's. Let us know if you have any luck with foam and if you need to purchase the glass windshield/wiper.

Rick - Finished installation of the OTC cab & lites over the weekend. I was surprised how rigid the frame was (doesn't look like it from the pictures). Installation was straight-forward, instructions could have been a little better, but everything was there and fit well.

I've got concerns about potential scratching of the lexan windows. I'll probably end up buying the safety glass windshield. My other concern is the wind warning of 25 MPH. Here in the Rockies, it's not uncommon to have gusts of 75 MPH or more. I'll try to keep the tractor inside on very windy days.

Please let me know if you do purchase the windshield/wiper setup (and what you think of it) and if you find the right sound absorbing foam for the top.

Here's a closeup pix of the lights. I used the same ones as on the ROPS previously ($20 at Autozone). I wired the new lites into the same circuit as aux lites (off 10A fuse #4), so they go on with the headlights. I disconnected the ROPS lites, but may turn them around (facing backwards). However I will need to work on switching the rears ones separately (no reverse switch on a JD790).

Mountain Man - thanks for the pictures of the lights, I want to add something like that to the front of my cab also. I did pick up a little spot heater this weekend to try to help prevent fogging if it happens, as soon as I get it mounted I'll take a pic and post. Did you find the snowblower used or get it new?
I am trying to find a used one at a cheap price for my 790 also but they seem to be worth about the same new or used.
