Well here is the answer:
On a number of 2210's there is a clearance issue between the flywheel and some mounting hardware attached to the housing that surrounds the flywheel. When the engine is loaded and the tractor is on a significant incline, the engine and flywheel shift in their rubber mount and the interference in realized by a banging by a lip on the edge of the flywheel against essentially the head of a bolt on the flywheel housing.
When the tech put this info into the JD database, he got a hit instantly on the problem. So it has been documented by JD, they are aware of it.
Solution: Shim under the rear engine mounts, simple as that!
So two weeks later I have my unit back, all is well, and I finally got my LX4! And I even got new front axle drive bearings out of the deal because the tech said there was some noise up there. That's not what I brought it in for, but oh well, I'll take it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
