2210 Factory Shipped Oil...Break-in Type or Not

   / 2210 Factory Shipped Oil...Break-in Type or Not #11
Summer is going well, but two straight weeks of camping out west was about enough for the summer. Going this fall though.

Yes the 2210 oil does get black very fast - only 2 quarts though so understandable. My DMAX oil colors very slowly, although by 5K it's getting pretty dark. From the DMAX hour meter my calculated avg speed is 40+MPH so 5000 miles would be roughly 125 hours. I would also guess the bosch common-rail injection is a lot better at not introducing too much fuel than the indirect injection on the yanmar - I get a big puff of black smoke when I throttle up the 2210 - and unburned fuel tends to find it's way into the oil.

The bilstein's are doing great....wish the seat on my 2210 had more shock absorption. I need a better seat or a smoother yard! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I will change the hydro filter again at 100 hrs, cheap insurance I think.....thanks for the suggestion.

This is news to me, that the 2210 only holds two quarts of oil.
A 61 cubic inch engine holds that little...??? My old gas motor JD 318 held almost that much oil and it was only 48 cubic inches. I changed the oil and filter on my 4210 when it got to 30 hours and because I run it hard for several hours at a stretch I decided not to continue using the break in oil. Seems to be working for me, I change the oil and filter every 45-50 operating hours and there is no oil consumption between changes.
