2210 HST noise

I had my 2210 out rolling my yard yesterday and the HST make a lot of whining noise. More than my 425 ever did. No issues just noisey. Is that normal? This was the first time I didn't have all my winter clothing on so I think it's just that I got used to hearing it with a 2 hats on. Opinions?

I recall the noise was normal at a 1 to 2 hat level. If it becomes a 3 hat noise level, its worth having it checked out.

Seriously, though, I had a 445 and was a bit alarmed at the whine when I moved up. As long as its just a whine, you are fine

Where you rolling the lawn in high range? If so, you were just pushing the tranny a bit (been there done that) and you will hear that noise again regardless of low or high range if you do 2-3 hours continues FEL work or rotary cutting or mowing when the outside temp is around 95F.

I too was amazed at the amount of HST noise my new 2210 made compared to my traded X585. I have also noticed that if you wear a hat with a brim it will get noisier. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Lots of whiney noises from the HST on my 4010, too.

My neighbor's old JD 820 with all gear drive is quieter. It's a beast to stop, shift, etc. I'll take the whiney HST any day.

Wow, Is the whinning that bad on the 2210s? I remember when I first got my 4110 in 2003 that the whinning was a bit louder than my previous tractor but didn't seemed that loud to the point of wearing hear protection! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Right now I can hear a difference in the winning when I use the high range vs the low range. In high range the whinning is louder.

I don't find it too load especially when away from the garage, building etc. Of course I also have to the wife to turn the volume up on the TV
