I bought my 2210 in April of '03 and traded it in April '13. Had 1200+ hours on it and it still ran strong. Traded for a 1026R because I made a mistake and ruined the rear-end on the 2210. Was going to cost me 5000.00 + to fix so my wife said why not get a new one!? Gotta love her. She didn't think JD could fix it right and I'd start having trouble with it. I must say I love the 1026R. So if you ever think about trading the 1026R is the way to go but get it with the same tires you have on your 2210 as the R4's aren't very good in the snow on hills.~~Levi

The "HDAP" tires would be my main reason for sticking with the (now) "1 series" tractors.
This thread goes on to point out new/improved features on the new 1 series vs. 2210/2305 twins... but it goes beyond convenience and comfort.
Mechanically the 1 series is barely a distant relative to the 2210. I have looked (and sad to say I feel I missed out on getting a short lived 1026 model)
The biggest difference I see is the rear end. The top 3 point link is no longer tacked onto a "fragile" aluminum housing on an air cooled hydrostat, it is now linked directly to the tractor frame as it should be! The transaxle is now oil cooled with an actual cooler instead of being strictly cooled "by miracle" with a little plastic fan as in the 2210/2305. The hydro oil filter is tucked up safely into the frame. And the main drive shaft might actually be accessible to lube?

The 1026 model is no longer available new???

I was hoping the 1026 was no longer sold so they would be considered obsolete by most buyers. That makes them affordable to folks like me. That's how I got my 2210 so cheap. Everyone wanted a 2305. Love it when that happens. :)

I bought my 2210 with inheritance money. Very glad I have it. My 3.5 acres of former horse pasture would have killed 2 or 3 lesser tractors by now, not to mention the gas money saved by the diesel motor. Unless I win the lotto or something I'm more than likely to have this 2210 for 20 more years.

By then, it will probably be worth the same as what you paid when it was new. :drink:

Yeah, that's what I figure as well. Pretty hard to logically trade into a new machine when the old one runs like new. I've accepted it's limitations and rarely think about them now. If for some reason my 2210 would have a mechanical failure I'd be totally surprised. I never question it's ability to perform.

I just got done reading this entire thread and thought I would share. My 2210 is just over 11 years old having been delivered in February of 2003. It's been a great workhorse and is approaching 600 hours. I have both bar and turf tire and wheel sets for winter and summer, respectively. I added a Femco folding rops a long time ago and also installed a suspension and seat from an X series tractor which was a big improvement....just replaced the seat again last year as the first "x" seat had developed quite a few cracks over time. I have some extra lights on the ROPS as well. For 10 years I looked for a used 47" snowblower and finally found one for sale near me last fall, was like new with little use, so my attachment collection is now complete - 210 FEL, 47" Snowblower, 72" Hyd angle front blade (custom setup), 62" MMM and 48" bushhog.

I learned about the "semi-greasable" u joints about 4 years ago and modded the operator platform in order to reach the rear jerk, so now I grease them both every year...so far they've stayed quiet. I also have a skid plate that goes underneath when I go offroad to do loader work, it protects the trans fan from sticks. All in all my 2210 has been a great tractor for the past 11 years.

I have toyed with buying a 2520 or 2720, and worked out a deal on a 2520 at one point, but my 2210 is 100% reliable a great fit for my needs. I'm pretty sure it will be alive and well long after I'm six feet under! :)

I gotta look into that seat modification. What I mow is fairly rough. My speed is limited to being able to stay in the seat.

I bought mine used and have put 350 hours on it. The machine functions just like it did the day I bought it. No deteriorating conditions at all. I too modified the floor pan so I can grease the joint.

I was mowing yesterday and daydreaming about maybe moving up to a size larger or newer machine to get some amenities. In the middle of those thoughts I realized this tractor does everything I ask of it. Only maintenance required is normal greasing and changing oil. Always cranks. Always works without delay. Hmmmmm,,,,, can't figure out how to justify a monetary expenditure for whatever gain I'd get. So I'm stuck with this poor ole tractor..... :)
