Anybody attempt to fix the top link plate leak themselves? I just received my leak two months after the warranty expired. I knew it was going to happen then. I suppose I could go brow beat the dealer into fixing it, but it doesn't look like there is much to it. Like to know what I'm getting into before I pop that thing off there.

My personal opinion is, if Deere knows it is a design flaw... they should cover it. If the time just ended... Car dealers will still cover things months after, if you talk to the right person. I would absolutely try talking with them. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I keep reading about leaks, are the 2003 the only models affected? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, Deere or the dealer won't cover the labor to reseal the plate, being that its three months out of warranty. I said that was fine as I don't mind doing the work myself, but I wanted the new reinforced plate so I only have to do it once. So Deere is exchanging plates for me, but I have to install it. I suppose both parties are happy... for now.

jdeerestl,

I'm glad you're happy with the solution. I'd almost be willing to bet my dealer would still have covered the labor on this.

I am glad they are supplying you with the new plate!
I can't believe they wouldn't back down over 3 months... when it is a Design Flaw. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Strange. It sounds like you have it under control anyway.
Let us know how it turns out. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I agree, it should be fixed under warranty, but it would end up costing me more time and money to rent a trailer and take it down there than it would to just twist a few bolts and swap out plates, not to mention my blood pressure of having to get ugly with them. Plus I have to admit I like doing stuff like this. As I told the service guy, if this is the only thing thats gone wrong with it in two years, I have nothing to complain about. Viva La 2210.

Any chance that you could post a picture of both plates (old and the new reinforced) side by side so that 2210 owners can tell what plate they have on their tractor.
Thanks,

My dealer is insisting that there is not a new improved plate out. If you have a part number could you please post it so I can get with my dealer again. This will be the third time with the problem with less than 10 months. And BTW I always have an implement on the 3 point.
