Has anybody added a cylinder to lift their Mid Mount Mower? I have searched TBN to find old posts on how this was done. I know someone had done this with a kit but I can not find it. I see one was a custom install but the hours I work I could never get time to do that assembly.

The 4000 series may also be a similar setup.

You're talking about the independant lift from the dealer? That's not to my liking as it uses one of the loader ports.
Just recently I posted about using a manual hydraulic pump and cylinder which worked ok but removed it when I put on the new imatch. It didn't seem necessary especially when one can just lock up the mmm in the highest position.
Someone did do a custom install with a separate valve and tapped into the hydraulic circuit somewhere at the transmission about a year ago. It was well done and probably what JD should have done.

I install a independant lift kit on my 4100 which installed in about 2 hours. Then I added a directional valve from my power beyond to control the cylinder for the mmm. Also added a piloted operated check valve to make sure the mmm stay in position(no leak down).

I guess I will have to take time off work... and try to get the parts people at my JD Dealer to figure this out. It may be messy.
I know some 2210 owners discussed this a year back. If JD does make the kit for the 2210 (not just the 2305) I would add my own valve eventually. I mow with my FEL on but the bucket off.

I am certain that a 2210 had been outfited with JD parts but no where can I find that thread.
On JD parts, I can only find a kit for tractors other than the 2210.

After my trip to the JD Dealer... they say there is NO kit that will work on the 2210. I find this hard to believe because I remeber someone on this forum has done it. Lets hear from you!

JD2210MAN, I looked into this conversion for my 2210 a while back and it is true, the 2305 is somewhat different from the 2210 in the mechanical lift mechanism. Most of the difference is at the forward end of the horizontal lifting rod. Ours is clevis end engaging the single blade arm on the transverse lifting bar. The 2305 has two blades on this lifting bar and uses a different mechanism to hold the mowing height. If you get on the JD parts website you can find pictures of both systems for comparison.

I believe it would be fairly easy to add a second blade to our lifting bar or convert the 2305’s cylinder to a clevis. My only concern would be the rear mounting of the cylinder in the area of the rear axle. I can’t tell from the pictures or part layouts if everything is similar enough and I haven’t studied an actual 2305 that closely. I’ll be spending the 4th with a friend of mine who runs the JD service shop at a local dealer. I’ll find out if he’s made any installs on a 2305 and get his feedback on making a conversion. I may even see if I can “borrow” a kit to see if a conversion is possible.
