Bob,
You are right, they are spring loaded U-shaped pins, just bigger versions of the kind JD uses to attach mowers, etc.
I am in NH, so winter is a good time to practice with a loader, and snow is (usually) pretty forgiving of mistakes. I used to use a 2WD garden tractor with a hydraulic front plow for snow removal. Sometimes I do miss the plow, but the ability to move snow banks and the much better traction of the 2210 more than make up for this.
JDGREEN4ME,
This is the first time I've posted pictures. The instructions in the FAQ section were very helpful.
jdeerestl,
I had a local welder make the light bar. It is two pieces of 3.5" L. x 1.5" W. x ¼" thick flat stock welded to a 38.5" L. x 1.5" x 1/8" thick piece of angle stock.
My next project will be a set of bucket hooks, based upon a neat design posted by member PaulT.
mhalla,
That's no illusion, it is a 53" bucket. It was an easy swap since they attach with pins, and the same buckets are used on other JD loaders. The dealer swapped the 49" for a 53" from another machine for $30. For snow removal, I like the 53", a little wider, but still narrow enough to maneuver in the woods. There is a 61" available, really wide, and probably too big a bite for other materials.
